If we're being to be strictly correct, the swastika that Hibbie's used there isn't the same as the German 'Hakenkreuz' (to give it it's proper name). The one Hibbie's used (square on as opposed to being at 45 degrees) was firstly the symbol of the Buddhist faith, iirc, and then used on Finnish planes during World War I.

Yes I know, that's why I said swastika looking thing (although I didn't know the German name). I also know that a lot of people draw them incorrectly and are trying to replicate the Nazi symbol, as in this case. Despite the fact that it doesn't seem to have actually offended anyone, I don't like the intent and so I'm removing it. Sorry Hibbie.

I'm just picturing people browsing through the forums, coming across swasticas and thinking we're okay with what they stand for. They're strongly associated with racism, there's no humour to it like there is with other potentially offensive things we do, and the only reason it was there was to cause bad feeling. Would there have been any protests if I'd have removed an avatar with a racist slogan?

Nothing personal against Hibbie by the way - I'm not accusing you of being a racist or a Nazi, just of being a bit too close to the edge with your avatar.

I second everything Dog Pants just said :above:

As for the "first bit of moderation I've seen on 5punk", that sounds like a load of bollocks to me

Anyway, maximum thread tangent achieved and all that, lets just move on and leave this thread please.

I'm with Dog Pants - I don't want this turning into B3ta /talk!

Besides, I come from mixed parentage - one male, one female*

Dogpants is right, WEY is not.

The modding here really is very lax, it's not a bad thing (most of the time) but sometimes it can be.

Fortunately we're usually self moderating, but not always.

I must of got the wrong end of the stick somewhere, because I don't understand the "first bit of moderation I've seen on 5punk comment".

There have been numerous occasions when things have got out of hand with flaming and so on, and the moderators have jumped in to calm things down.
If that isn't moderating, I don't know what is

Like I said, I've probably got the wrong end of the stick, but when I heard that, to me it sounded like nobody thinks the admins do anything moderator wise, which is definitely not the case.

Anyway, loose moderation FTW :boogie:

Unfortunately to the majority of people on the internet (i.e. tards), they think that means "lose". I even noticed the faq on CoH spelt it that way!

Exactly, this place is generally so well modded that no-one notices.
