Berk, If you'd have asked 12 hours ago I would have uploaded an image of my gold version CD, alas it's ~130 miles away now.

Should be dead easy to sweep though.

I'll do the usual thing with AvP2 if I can get everything to work.

While the game certainly has more than its fair share of idiots, it usually costs you nothing to be nice, and often pays you back in kind. Most of us feel the same, so don't be afraid to ask for a hand - it's collosal fun going back to the areas you've done before and punishing all those baddies that hurt you the first time.
I ended up doing just that last night. A lowly level 5 priestess ran up to me in Westfall, (level 14-20 area) and kept yelling HELP!! I thought her husband had collapsed or something as frantically as she was hopping about. After teaching her to chat properly, it became evident that she was TERRIBLY lost, and couldn't find Guard Roberts to heal for a quest. Twas hilarious helping her find a guard near Goldshire, protecting her along the way with my gathering pally. Tis those funny random people that make it an MMO in the first place, and was probably how I ended up here myself, asking for help and finding a 5punker!

I intend to wholeheartedly recruit WoW'ers to my guild, with 5punk being our 'community heart'. I'll probably even use the scheduler, so people don't have to check alts for gametimes and such. And x-fire is definitely a must for any quildies I recruit. :)

I just don't seem to encounter randoms that much in WoW - except the ones I help out who then proceed to obsessively stalk me.

 do I remember you getting stalkers in another MMO?

Recently I've been being nice to randoms in wow by kicking the living shit out of allies who're fucking around in lowbie areas.

I could see AVP2 being a very 5punky game, though I seem to remember it being a cock to get working.

I played the original AvP a few times multiplayer and with the right balance of numbers it works quite well. We almost had a go at AvP2 once IIRC. I might even still have it installed.

Anyhoo, great points and I agree with all of it.

That'd be the activity of a dead site, not one with what I see as a good core of around 30 active members. Or are we all simply using discobiscuits and not the forums?
You're misinterpreting what I'm saying there. Out of all the people who joined in 2008, only 4 made more than 10 posts, and only 2 of those were active in december.
amblin wrote:My gaming activities have changed since COD4, that was the last 5punky game I was on around twice a week. L4D has the potential to do that again, and is certainly a game we could use to advertise more - but isn't the lobby thing still broken horribly?
I'm going to be somewhat controvertial here (and possibly cause a monster tangent) and say that I don't think L4D is a very good game for us. It's difficult to play with a group of friends, it's difficult to control from a server point of view, and it requires a very specific number of people to be enjoyable.
amblin wrote:Your points (Present) 3, 4 and 5 reflect something I perceive as a cancer in the site and needs to be stamped out. Bitchiness and clan-faggery. I know it goes against the ethos of 5punk a bit but we really need more active moderation of the forums - especially general - perhaps more than one mod? I've locked threads - even deleted some in the past on the eve boards when I've considered things to have gone 'Way Too Fucking Far By Half' and that should be a serious topic of conversation in the super secret hidden admin/god bit. Yes I know it depends upon the sensibility of the moderator - but that's why you very carefully choose who you allow to moderate.
Agreed. To be honest not a lot goes on in the admin forum, but all the points mentioned have been discussed there previously. It's being addressed by the mod reshuffle, which I'll start pushing as soon as I'm happy that we're ready for it (by that I mean I don't actually do anything technical, so I'm reluctant to promise things that will be done by the other admins) I'll open a discussion to all as to who wants/is able to do what.
In addition to that I've resolved to take a slightly stronger stance on petty arguments. Luckily there's not actually that many, certainly not compared to most forums (especially gaming ones). I speak for myself and Spoodie in the main post, but we're not one entity and so obviously his outlook might vary.

I agree and done. It's worth capturing this in a separate thread I think. It's still a good game and I'd like to play more, air whores aside. I didn't bother with separate AVP2 and CSS threads but if there's demand it can be done.

I would like to think we'll have the same idea about what needs attention. When I became an admin I took cues from those that came before me and took a laid-back approach to harassment. Just encouraging those involved to play nice, but from now we will be taking a more active roll.

Also I think we have agreed to be mostly autonomous, ie. not necessarily discussing what actions we should take in response to a problem. Am I right in thinking this? Of course if there's an objection to an action this can be discussed in admin land. As you have said we don't all have the same opinions.

I fully trust the admins to respond to anything they see as un5punky in whatever way they deem appropriate, if it later turns out there was a misunderstanding, then all of them are man enough to say sorry.

L4D sure does have it's problems, but I'm determined to <s>perceive</s> persevere, hence the scheduled game. Recently I've tried to play with randoms and I always end up on a US server and lag the whole game so I have to leave for the sake of everyone. My only option is to play with 5punkers.
