Even though I pre-ordered, they'd managed to sell out before I got there. Luckily, there are two of them. It's only crashed once sofar, which is a record for my computer. It's all shiny!

W00t for recursive Oblivion - but curse you for ultra high settings. And curse xfire for not supporting it yet - it minimises the game if I get a message and I can't take screenies yet. Also, the print screen button doesn't seem to do it either :(. Boo and indeed hiss.

I'm playing it on medium settings @1024x768 and its running smoothly enough. Is there any way of getting it to show the FPS? I tried googling for a console command but couldn't find one. It does occasionally judder a tiny amount, usually when entering a new area. I like what they've done with the area loading though - massive improvement on Morrowind where every 200m it would pause and load up the next section. And all indoors bits are perfectly smooth.

However, my 5punker class Wood elf is at level four now, specialising in blade, block, stealth, security, marskman, restoration and another one. Ninja Assassin, here I come! And I've just found the first gate to Oblivion too, but I thought its best I leave that for tomorrow, cos its now late o'clock.

EDTI: To show FPS and some other crap, put tdt into the console. Seems I'm averaging around 30-35 with current settings.

Oh yeah, M4niachicken, you may have uber shinyness, but it doesn't excuse having a wallpaper to such a pap film on your desktop.

To take screenshots you need to edit your \My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini file and change bAllowScreenShot=0 to bAllowScreenShot=1

My ones havent come out very well, taken at night they are very dark, much darker than in-game.

edit: photos edited for width sanity

Since we're now moving away from review territory and more into general game discussion, I've started a new thread here.

I got this on 360 the other day and i dont know whether i have a faulty copy or my xbox is playing up but it seems to need to load after every five steps i make (especially outside). When it does this, there isnt any indication that its loading, it just pauses for about half a minute. The actual load screens are frustratingly long.
Opening boxes and looting corpses also has a 10-15 second pause before you can see whats inside.
Oh, and the sound on the intro sequences is messed up, it skips like a dodgy dvd.

I havnt even had a proper go of the game yet because of these problems but i think it looks, visually, just as good as the PC version.

if its that bad dodgy DVD or machine, when it loads theres a slight drop in frame rate but there should be no pause at all when activating or investigating things.
My friend had this problem with the intro sequence, took it back and his new copy works fine.

There's some 360-specific probelm when playing for ages apparently, which can be cured by 'clearing the cache', even though that's not what you experienced.
