Hell, if they just had guns they would be fine! They're going to get lost by noobs that will only be wondering what could go in those slots anyway. My goal is to give them all a briefing on the rules of combat in low sec, teach them all about bookmarks, (and help them create a few) and how to check the range on their guns before I let them at each other's throats. Then, those that want to do more with this training, are welcome to join 5punkorp. Those that are bummed because they are dead or didn't enjoy it and are swearing and wanting to quit Eve, may do so as well. But I'm going to teach that the harsh reality of Eve is that there are ALOT of people that will shoot at you if they think it will benefit them, and being able to survive and defend oneself are important things to realize early if they want to enjoy the game, no matter what they choose to do within it!

Although a bit off the 5punky trail, I want all recruits to have at least minimal shooting and defending skills. Even if they don't choose to enter the 'teams', which will be primarily combat oriented, they will most likely find a role within 5punkorp that they can fit into. The 5punk HQ is in a pretty good spot with ice in it's home system, and TONS of belts right next door, (with a race that I'll ask the mission runners to grind standings with to reduce corp tax rate, I've already reduced my personal tax rate 2.5%)

Gah, better cut myself off before this get ginormously long again!

Fly safe mates!

Well, despite the efforts put in, the 'tournament' technique failed last night because the noobs were NOT watching local at all. I managed to get one recruit from mining in local in Sehmy and convoing to offer my mining foreman bonus. After mining for an hour with him, we convinced him to come aboard and move to Goram, where we're going to mine with him to earn the isk he needs for skills, and a Covetor. (Which is such a tiny thing to build when you have Hulks pulling in ore like we do, we could build it by refining the odds and ends modules around the hangar narf).

But we have our first recruit! :)

Thank m8!

Update on recruiting, I also got a 'blind' applicant this morning from the advertisements I've placed at our offices. I'll be doing some interviewing and chatting w/ that one though, as they are less than a day old. But I also have promising vibes from somebody I chatted up in the CEO channel that is looking to build a pvp character, and already has an industrial main. So hopefully that works out well too.

Gotta go werk, fly safe!

Training goal: Keep it balanced, somewhat at least.

One of my goals is to NOT let either of the two main divisions of the corp become exclusive to the other. Those being PVP and Industry. My goal there is to have all industrial types able to hop in corp frigs and tackle/shoot, and all pvp types able to haul, or provide security on low-sec or 0.0 mining ops. So I'll be alternating mining ops w/ pvp ones to make sure nobody is foreign to the other operations of the corp.

In the beginning, pvp ops might be joint mission work, pirating, or just sparring to make people aware of the different forms/styles of tanking/damage dealing/tackling. As we grow in numbers, we might voyage farther and attempt more, with the goal of losing corp insured ships and ending up back at HQ, so we'll always have some ships to build, and corp insured ships won't expire!

The pvp training this week had light attendence, so Elotane and I did some basics in Goram. Basically I fitted different ways to hurt her, and she tried not to die. The first round was won by Elo, who fitted her ship with Warp Core Stabilizers, negating my warp scrambler and allowing her to escape. Since she aced that lesson, I proceeded with web/nos/neut fits that gave her an idea of what could be thrown at her. The we did a smackdown, everone-must-die noobship match. Takes awhile to kill anything with those stock weapons....

Oh, and I showed her how remote repping works.

After that was completed, we went back to our carebear ways, and mined for 2 hours. Loads of minerals were had by all, and another belt disappeared in Adahum. :)

Surprisingly, 5punkorp has been invited to join an alliance.

Army of Angels alliance is working in CVA space, and is working on gaining favor with them.

We've had a meeting with the CEO of the executor corp, and talked about what we could bring to the alliance, asked them questions, and talked among the people that were online at the time. So far, our general consensus is that we'll join, but we won't be moving to 0.0, just operating there from time to time for pvp work, until more people are ready to make that move. Most new members don't have jump clones yet, so wouldn't be able to quickly hop out there for operations. Plus, we're not ready yet, we need scouting practice and moar pvp training/practice w/ voice comms.

Please vote ingame or message me here if you can't vote ingame, or have any questions.

I think such a decision is woth its own thread

reading Elotane's meeting notes I have a few questions and points. I have PMd these to you in game but think that they should be aired before others make their decisions;

afaik all CVA stations are public, thus we have access to them at the moment and their NRDS (not red don't shoot) policy supports this assumption. Thus we are free to rat and mine in their space at the moment. In fact I'm pretty sure I was ratting in their space last month.
You say that AoA are working on contacts with CVA. Are they Blue to CVA at the moment?

I still support joining AoA (subject so one of the more experienced players telling us something about Smash alliance, who AoA appear to have splintered from) except for my point below;

This 2M a month alliance fee, is this a game mechanics fee or are AoA asking us to pay some sort of membership fee? If 2M a month for the corp then it's not really relevant past principle but if it's 2M/member/month then it's a very different situation indeed.

If we are being asked to buy our way into an alliance who's only offer to us is to tell us where the CVA stations are then we should save our money, imo. I, hulky, Friz and a dozen others know where these are (several in Catch, our old home, iirc).

Thread split. Please see "Should 5punkorp join a CVA pet alliance?" thread for more discussion points.
