Fixd. Coding 4 way cods now -_-

Looking at the code files, they aren't too big and they are coded in quite an understandable language. What I'm afraid of is that we might need new maps if we want to avoid having more spawnrape than in a full-length match of 32-man shipment free for all.
I've had an idea about that which will probably be too hard to code but i'll mention it anyway. You could make it so players from a team respawn on a leader rather than random spawn points, so it'd be like beefs squad system and hopefully promote teamwork. I dunno how you'd select the leader though, possibly just randomly, then if the leader dies it selects a new leader randomly.

Nice idea. I'd hate to introduce teamwork *spits* to COD4, but I like the idea of the spawns being a little less dispersed. Battle lines rarely seem to be drawn in the game, mose like deathmatch with only half the people in the game viable targets. I hate it when I spend several minutes sneaking around behind the enemy team to wreak some shotgun havoc only for my own players to start spawning there. Conversely, one of the first online shooty games I enjoyed was 32 way Arnhem on UO because it took quite an effort to push the enemy back.

This is why I want to try the idea of more than 2 teams in a TDM. It's a sort of middle ground between free-for-all which can be just too chaotic if it's not balanced properly for the number of players, and the current TDM, which can lead to people not seeing any enemies for minutes at a time. You'll still have plenty of targets, as either 66% or 75% of the players are enemies, but you'll still have some buddies to work together with.

I'll try to start working on this over the weekend. Baliame, let me know what you've got so far, maybe we can collaborate or something.

What I have so far is bollocks. Somehow Audiosurf distracted me. A little.

bollocks! from what I've been looking at so far, COD4 is hardcoded by IW to be a two team game, so I'm out of dice.

I'm disappointed :(

In other news, I agree. See old BF2 5punk server thread.
