otherwise, I think you're into x1000 territory, dunno which are sm3 there.
I'm pretty sure the entire X1000 series does SM 3.0. I know the X1600's do for sure.

Well, 8800GT pricing is leaking out.

Apparently they'll be gettable here for ~£130, which is a fucking great price.

Also, 88800GT VS X1950. Which wins?

So... after I bought an 8800GTS 320mb for £170, there's a cheaper and better card coming out straight after? .-.

Pretty much, but the GTS is still a good card, just not quite as good as the GT.

Just updated the first post in this thread to account for the 8800GT and prices dropping :)

UPGRAED COEDZ GET!

Well, its not entirely woohoo worthy, but i just scored a X1950PRO 512 for no moneys.

Thanks to my Chickenz like hardware discarding neighbour! It'll keep me going until PC upgrade time. And also means i can move my X800gto into my MaMe box.

I've updated the first post in this thread.

Added moar and less money options to the main spec, the Mid range is What I'd recommend still, but better and worse have been added, mix and match at will.

The CPU is where I'd put my money, The 4gb of ram option is often a good deal (when on special) allows for more upgrading in future.

Also added the money to burn option to the graphics cards. In this case, the new 8800GTSes (the ones based on the G92 core, rather than the G80 of the old GTS) makes the 8800GTX look bad.

The ATI 3870 doesn't get a look in yet, the 8800GT is still faster for about the same money. (though ATI can make magic happen using drivers)

yeah it's unfortunate the 3870's price got inflated so fast. at its MSRP it's a good alternative, but the prices it's going for now it's not worth it. They're costing the same as a stock 8800GT, which I find quite bizarre. I'm glad I got mine at the price I did...

:above:

Unfortunately, same price, less performance has pretty much fucked ATI. again.

Wooo, sheriff has a cupcake card! :ahoy:

And a whole new system, although was the enermax branded powerstation or the mobo necessary? Also can't believe how cheap top notch ddr2 is becoming!

The mobo is an X38 DDR2/3 Jobbie, allows for pretty much any foreseeable CPUs and memory.

PSU is overkill, But I suggested it over the 720W (I think) enermax at £130 (inc vat), again for futureproofing and because sheriff is a tart
