I'm pretty sure the entire X1000 series does SM 3.0. I know the X1600's do for sure.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:pretty much any nvidia graphics card after (IIRC) a 6600 will do SM3.
otherwise, I think you're into x1000 territory, dunno which are sm3 there.

I've updated the first post in this thread.
Added moar and less money options to the main spec, the Mid range is What I'd recommend still, but better and worse have been added, mix and match at will.
The CPU is where I'd put my money, The 4gb of ram option is often a good deal (when on special) allows for more upgrading in future.
Also added the money to burn option to the graphics cards. In this case, the new 8800GTSes (the ones based on the G92 core, rather than the G80 of the old GTS) makes the 8800GTX look bad.
The ATI 3870 doesn't get a look in yet, the 8800GT is still faster for about the same money. (though ATI can make magic happen using drivers)

deject wrote:yeah it's unfortunate the 3870's price got inflated so fast. at its MSRP it's a good alternative, but the prices it's going for now it's not worth it. They're costing the same as a stock 8800GT, which I find quite bizarre. I'm glad I got mine at the price I did...
Unfortunately, same price, less performance has pretty much fucked ATI. again.

The mobo is an X38 DDR2/3 Jobbie, allows for pretty much any foreseeable CPUs and memory.HereComesPete wrote:Wooo, sheriff has a berk card!
And a whole new system, although was the enermax branded powerstation or the mobo necessary? Also can't believe how cheap top notch ddr2 is becoming!
PSU is overkill, But I suggested it over the 720W (I think) enermax at £130 (inc vat), again for futureproofing and because sheriff is a tart
