Its assumed that everyone can do basic things like driving a car from A to B, driving skills come in to play when you need some slightly fancier driving. Even then, a completely unskilled person can do whats called "defaulting", basically you roll the test anyway, with just the linked attribute. So for driving, it would be just an agility check, I believe.
Mr Tashima wrote:Ah, a very nice car, yes? We must go now, we may discuss business when we have left this area. I must first see the item. Once I have confirmed authenticity, I will make payment. Yes?

DP, should we both make attempts at negotiations? I think we're both at a -1 dice modifier, and IIRC I have one more die than you in negotiation. If we can drive around for an hour I can try to make a roll to negate some of this stun damage I have.

I think it's probably better if only one of us does it, rather than having both of us gibbering at him. You go ahead, I'll step in if you need any specific information. I think we ought to be pressing for a nice bonus (nicer than the one we're owed). The box is a good start if possible.

Right, I'll try my hand at it then.

Leland takes the box out from under his coat and holds it up.
Leland wrote:Here it is, it's definitely genuine. Now Before I let you take a closer look at it, I'd like to know what you know about those guys that ambushed us at the meet. It was a pretty big risk we took just to break into that warehouse and get this box in the first place. Being jumped by a larger group of guys is not something we enjoy at all. Who were those guys and who do they work for?

Also, I'd like to make a Perception roll.

Intuition (4) + Perception (3) -1: 1 hit

Mr Tashima wrote:Ah, yes. I'm afraid I had not told you all the details before*. You see, whilst I was not lying that the owners of the warehouse were not a major corporation, I was aware that they had recently liberated the item from a AAA company**. It would seem that the "larger group of guys" that you talk of are from that company. I was...unaware...that the company was Renraku, yes? It is most troubling, most troubling. Of course, I will ensure that you receive your bonus, yes?
*No Shit

**AAA (pronounced triple A) companies, like Renraku, are the megacorps that dominate the world of Shadowrun. They are big scary fuckers, and you don't really want to piss them off. That being said, pissing off one will nearly always endear you to their rivals, so you cant go too far wrong without trying, usually. Unless someone sets you up, of course.

Leland wrote:Now see, that would have been useful information Mr. Tashima. However, I understand that there are always risks involved in our business. Now, I know what you want is the spirit contained within this box, and what I would like to propose to you is that you let us keep the box or at least in some way compensate us for the box itself, as it's not the object you're particularly after. I'm sure you can appreciate the difficulties that we have just endured on your behalf. As the metaphor goes, just throw us a bone, please. I'd say we've done a rather well job for you.

He fucking did know Renraku were after it, the lying shit. He's loosely associated with them, so three guesses how he found out about this. And he knows I know. Unfortunately I can't eloquently pass this information on at the moment.

You think that he was just getting us to do some dirty work and then off us once we had the goods?

Could be, but I don't think it's anything so sinister. I reckon he spotted an opportunity and knew Renraku would be pissed, so got us to take the risks. Remember he's affiliated with them, so he probably heard that this thing was stolen and tried to beat Renraku to getting it back but didn't expect them to act so fast. I reckon he was surprised that we had the shoot out with Renraku, but not that it was Renraku. I'm considering having a chat with him in Japanese, just to push my point that I know what I'm talking about.

Wait and see what he has to say. He might agree to our demands. If we have to haggle I'll pull that one on him.

He looks at you for a moment, as if considering his words.
Mr Tashima wrote:I am unaware of the contents, but my instructions were quite specific, and the information available to me limited. I...
He suddenly goes a little slack jawed, and stares into space for a moment. Then, as if nothing has happened, he continues:
...yes, yes, there is no problem with your request. If I may see the item for a moment to authenticate it, I will make a deposit into the account of your choosing. Once you are satisfied that the transfer has been completed, you will drop me off at this location (he sends a location to the gps of the car from his PAN). Despite complications, my client is pleased with your handling of the situation, and has authorised the full payment of 400 nuyen each, plus a 200 nuyen bonus and the..."box". This is acceptable to you, yes?
By the way, PAN is a Personal Area Network, and is basically a combination of all the electronic gadgets you have about your person talking to each other wirelessly. Your communication gear, and VR displays, computer gear or storage stuff links together to form your PAN, and people can send and receive messages and data to it. Most of the time it is pretty secure; no *normal* person can get in, but thats where hackers and technomancers come into things.

What do you guys think? I'd say that's a decent price, assuming we can fence the box easily enough.

Yeah, I reckon that's pretty reasonable. We'd be pushing it to try for more and it'd be nice if we at least had the option of working for these guys again, despite their track record so far.

Roman had a couple days to object, so I'm taking the deal.
Leland wrote:Alright Mr. Tashima, I think that is a fair deal. We accept. Here's the box. I should say though, don't open it here.

I expect you'll need to be taking it to your employer or a summoner type to extract the contents of this box safely, so how shall we arrange to get the box back from you?

I'm just assuming that Al has put the privacy window up in the limo, so the driver can't participate in what's going on

 I hadn't thought of that. Anyhow, I don't want to piss you off too much beacause you're quite violent and I'm still injured.
