Also, if you watched it and liked it,

infernal affairs(mou gaan dou), the far superior original. Also it has a prequel and a sequel, both released in 2003, I've not seen them, but they are probably a bit wank.

None of the above. The colouring is indeed deliberate and is seen throughout the film.
