Deject, you're not seeing a signal, although given the amount of concrete and metal around you that's not especially surprising. Those entering the room please make a detect roll.
In the control room red and green LEDs glow in the hazy darkness. Wires and shards of metal weave across the walls like plants in a rather disconcerting way. There are three more desiccated corpses here, similarly covered in creeper-like wires. An armoured one which looks a lot like the one which appeared behind Roman, another male civilian, and a female in denims and a leather coat slumped over a control panel. As you're having a poke about, banks of monitors lining the walls spring to life. Each low-res green screen shows a CCTV image of the room you’re in, including yourselves, but also standing amongst you on the screens is the female corpse. The ratcheted door to the room drops shut with a clang, echoed by others around the facility, and a clunk announces the locks shooting into place.
Is it possible to do a search of the corpses without touching the wires, or if we poke them out of the way with a stick? If so I'll do a bit of Forensics on them
10,10,+6 = 26
Let's just hope I can do it after all!
Presuming Hal is stood outside the room, can we still hear him over comms?
Okay, I'll bring your search rolls into effect now too. It was mainly to see who was going to admit to being in the room while trying not to sound sinister.
Looking around you notice that there's a breaker box on the wall that appears to have been damaged. The tendrils of wires wind into it, which along with the rest of those in the room seem to originate from (or maybe go to) the circuitry inside the equipment consoles over which the monitors sit.
Most obvious among the corpses is the armoured one. The wire tendrils creep into every orifice and crack of the armour, as well as the eye sockets and mouth of the corpse itself. The mummified skin doesn't appear to have been damaged by it, and you suspect the wires came long after death. The cause of said death isn't apparent, but judging by the expression on the face of the corpse it was unpleasant. Crispy, ancient, black blood surrounding his eyes and mouth suggests some sort of internal haemorrhaging. The second male corpse's cause of death is more apparent - a burst of 10mm rounds look to have torn his chest open. It doesn't take a forensic scientist to match those to the ancient DarkNight AR still gripped in the hands of the first corpse. The gunned down corpse is clutching a fire axe, which again can be linked to some of the damage found, this time on the breaker box. Finally, the female corpse has no indication of having died a violent death. In fact the cause of death is a mystery to you.
Trying to raise Hal on comms you get through, albeit with a little noise and distortion.
Dirk wrote:Right, no shooting things - if my guess is right these people killed each other due to some weird hallucination like we saw earlier. This other corpse is odd though. Body is here with no apparent signs of death, and on the monitors we can see her stood up. I'm going with a hunch that she's an Ebon or Brain Waster, and some crazy Ebb based mojo has caused her to become a ghost or something.
That's purely guessing though.
If we don't get a response from her, and I for one haven't brought a ouiji board, then we'll have to start looking into these wire things. Careful though - I'd guarantee they're still active, maybe even "alive".
Hal, can you hear us out there? Is the door budging?
Yes mate, but only just. Shonky signal. Not got et by animate wires then?
I'll do a look around on this side of the door, see if I discover anything useful. Or I would, if I had any way of making such a roll at work, or had access to my character sheet. Feel free to do one for me if you get to it before I get home.
