Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Okay then. So there's that door further on. It looks manky and decaying like the first door you encountered. Deject, you notice there's something odd about it. Rather than marrying up with the walls as you would expect, it looks somewhat out of place, like it's been formed up against the machinery and walkways.

Can I do any sort of roll that would give me a clue on the Ebb ability that I sensed? Maybe some similar incident I've heard of before.Dirk wrote:I think we should avoid shooting things for the moment, just in case we end up blowing each other heads off.
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Yes! You can make a Formula roll.

8,3,+2 = 13
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
It was very much like the 'notice me' free ability. I forget which school it comes from. However, while the 'ability' was there it didn't have the flow of Ebb release you would normally expect.

Communication ability. Worryingly it looks like someone with this can plant thoughts in other people's heads...

So, Deject and the dodgy door?

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
I'll see how solid it is.
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Not solid at all. On contact it disappears, revealing a rusted and warped supporting pillar in the middle of an aisle directly behind it. A few meters beyond is another door, looking more intact but narrower than the others seen so far. Around it is what looks like an unnatural tangle of spider's webs, except made from thin wire. Visible beneath it is a faded sign bearing the word CONTROL.

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Can I reach the door without touching the wires? If so I'll check out the door to see what shape it's in.Man, whatever is going on here really wants us to kill ourselves. I think whatever it is can't directly harm us, otherwise why wouldn't it just attack us? We're just being baited into hurting ourselves, so be extra careful when using horse for anything. That sign says "CONTROL," I think that's where we need to be. Let's figure this out and get out of here. This place creeps me out.
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
You can, and apart from being narrower it looks to be of a similar condition and style to the other doors you've come through (apart from the trashed outer doors).

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Do the wires appear to go anywhere or just kinda disappear into the surrounding like spider webs usually do?
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
They just disappear into the surroundings. Into cracks in the door frame, digging into the concrete. Some you can see the bare ends of the wire while others come in and out.

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Well, hopefully this door will be uncharacteristically and conveniently unlocked. I'll try opening it.
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Haha, no such luck. It's another ratchet job.

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
Ugh, well then I'll give that a go.
Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
This is a little faster since the door only weighs half as much. As it slowly rises it reveals a room full of rotten wheelie chairs at dusty monitors and control panels. Red and green LEDs glow in the hazy darkness. Wires and shards of metal weave across the walls like plants in a rather disconcerting way. There are three more desiccated corpses here, similarly covered in creeper-like wires. One is armoured, another is dressed in rotting male civilian attire, and one in female denims and a leather coat, slumped over a control panel.

I reckon we found our source of "Data Flow" then. Lets shut this shit down and run like little sissies.

Re: SLA Industries: Binary Soul
I'll saunter up and check out the control panels.
I've just thought, do we still have data access down here or are we all on our own?

Hal blows a jet of smoke out the corner of his mouth, stays well back from the door and says...
