Can't believe the amount of times my galaxy was taken out by friendlies - scythe pilots who rocket pod and like to fly in close to the ground, right where galaxies will be dropping. Cunts

watching that Sycthe that suddenly went out of control and exploded into your roof and seeing your spiral round structures and managing to stay in control was awesome though, only wish we had caught that on cam.

I'm still shocked i managed to be somewhat competent in a liberator and got into a few bases without blowing myself up or just nose diving straight off the landing pads

How to take the crown.

Step one: Smash face off red bastards for an hour.

Image

Step two: Fuck it, Stage air campaign to rival battle of Britain.

Image

Step seven: Win.

Steps 3-6 not pictured, mostly dying.

Hmm, I can't decide if I actually like this game or not. After spending a good few hours today playing without 5punkers, I'm actually torn as to whether I enjoyed it while playing or just find it addicitive so kept playing.

I think it depends on the circumstances. Spend all night getting farmed and you're not going to enjoy it. Spend all night in a Bio Lab meat grinder and you probably won't enjoy it. You need to read the game and find where the skirmishes are where you can make a difference and feel some achievement. Of course you could argue that you shouldn't have to look for a way to enjoy a game, and you'd be right, but I think it's worth it generally and in a multiplayer game where other people are variables you can't anjoy it all the time.

This.

Some days I utterly hate the game, others it's my favourite thing, really just depends on the in game situation.

I generally find it more enjoyable if I stay out of the zerg, but in a half competent squad, hell I was in an assault on the crown the other day that was actually fun, but that was down to a well managed platoon making a proper push.

There's another RPS call to arms on Thursday, and this time PCG have offered themselves up as targets. I'd love to be there on the front lines but.. erm. Well I'm there in spirit. Right behind you, boys!

Planetside, oh planetside you devil you...
At times it is sheer brilliance as you succesfully take a point through teamwork and sneaky flash driving or foiling some sneaky backcapping through...well a tank really. Thats when the game shines its brightest. Being steamrolled by superior numbers or watching you faction become biolab obsessed at the expense of other territories - thats when the game fucking stinks.
Biolabs are fun, but progress needs to be made, getting nowhere? Move on. This is why cut off territories need to have spwn timers at those locations increased massively until reconnected, this would encourage tactical territory aquisitions and decrease biolab-vision.

B is select fire.

I am now far too effective with an NS11 thing, snipers are pleasantly in range. :)

I was wondering what that crazy slug thrower was you had in the screenshots back up there ^. An ejection port, in a Vanu weapon?

It's fucking awesome mainly because it's not VS specific, I think it's meant to be a future G3, at least it works like one :)

I have mixed impressions about the NS11.
As a rifle it is ok, it seems to pack more punch than my prefferred Corvus but this seems to be paid for in accuracy. Indoors I prefer my HV for hip firing stopping power.

As for the RPS call to arms, I decided to take a day (night) off work and see just what a pitched battle between organised(ish) horses is like. Galaxy bus services will be operating as required.

I find it fairly accurate and pleasantly punchy, but it's arse at anything over point blank in auto.

Nice battle riffle, but not great for CQB.

Any 5punkers who can make this need to make it awesome. Because I want it to happen again when I can actually play it.

Actually, thursday nights are RPS's serious tactics nights anyway. Problem with jumping into bed with RPS is they like everyone to be on their mumble server listening in, and we (me included) like to talk bollocks around our tactical bungling. So we're not really compatible, but it would be nice to be part of a wider effort.

As much as I'd like to join the CTA, I'll be training tomorrow night, but if there's still hot sweaty RPS action going on at about 22:30, I might have a looksie.

I got an hour or so tonight, mostly involved pretending I was a ninja sniper special horses Jedi medic.

Highlight of the evening was a decent long range battle with a redneck sniper resulting in us killing each other at the same time.

In other news shotguns are evil, I want one.

Well, the CTA was interesting. RPS don't allow public squads/platoons so in order to join in I joined the RPS outfit (means I need an invite back) Whilst there was a good laugh amongst the folks in the squads it did seem like this was serious buisiness and everyone was to do as they were told.
Tactics wise I think we were lacking somewhat, this was probably down to the sheer amount of folks who turned up - most of the server was RPS and when new targets were called everyone was ordered back to Warpgate to galaxy up and move on the next place - meanwhile the NC and TR have taken whatever we have just fought over - this probably works when there are more folk on the server but when you take 200 and something people out of the fight all at once...
Aside from that there were some pretty spectacular scenes, and more giraffe camo than I have ever seen before.

And PCGamer hardly bothered to turn up, wusses.

RPS normally work alongside affiliates, so it sounds like we're better off joining in that way. They have a thread on their forum with the groups they work with, how big they are, what they specialise in. It sounds like they probably needed more like that. Unfortunately a thursday night isn't great for a lot of people so getting a 5punky squad would be hard.
