Whoops, must have missed your response in between the bizarre fridge jokes.

Hello Mr. Burke, my name is Dirk Gently from SLA squad Five Punk. We're investigating a series of murders that are extremely similar to ones that your own squad investigated a few years ago.
Victims are killed with whatever sort of weapon is to hand, then their faces are mutilated to make it appear that they are grinning. You seemingly busted the guy just as he'd finished with his last victim, Claudia Thompson.
Thing is, the murders are happening again. There have been 6 killings in the last fortnight.
Is there anything you can tell us about your case that might be able to help us?

Burke wrote:Wow, that was a long time ago. Back when I was a combat financier with Zen Headbutt. I'm pretty sure we killed that guy - Ray, our Frother, did a pretty thorough job on him. The guy never stopped grinning even as Ray hacked him to pieces. Very creepy.
In fact, there was definately something different about that guy. More than just serial killer craziness. And now the same thing's happening again? Have you thought it might be a copycat maybe?

Dirk wrote:Whilst we're not completely ruling out a copy cat, our introduction to this case leads me to believe the truth is somewhat darker than that.
Tell me, what was it about the killer that made him seem so creepy? Can you remember if he had any family or close contacts?

Burke wrote:Apart from the smile? He had a weird sort of air about him. Made you feel... Made you feel like you had a big, aggressive Frother invading your personal space or something. He had a few old workmates at the station, but they said they hadn't seen him in months. Just stopped going to work.

Also you mentioned he worked at the station - do you mean the Shiver station?

Burke wrote:Yeah, he was a Shiver. Well, ex Shiver by the time we caught up to him. Very ex after Ray finished. His old buddies came and cleaned him up. Struck me as being a bit of a bitch that, at the time, but I guess Shivers down here are used to scraping their guys up off the concrete.

Just a random thought, but:
K'trr wrote:What of this "Ray" you speak of? Is he available to speak to? Did his behaviour change at all after the incident?
Just thinking, if this is some kind of nasty ebb bastard that jumps bodies through things being cut up, and Ray cut the guy up pretty bad...

I will do a search on Ray, as well as do a check on ex-shivers from around that time, and in the area.

They're all dead except for the financier. Would be interesting to see if the chap that killed him went crazy though (although he was a Frother so who could tell?)

Yep, Burke is the only surviving member. Looks like Ray was killed along with two other squad members about two months later. They were on a BPN into one of the Cannibal Sectors (2 did I say?) and overrun. Burke and one other made it out by Kilcopter evac. The rest of the squad were never recovered.
A bit of cross referencing gets you some information about the Shiver. Guy by the name of Ryan Turk. Had a good record in Uptown before his boss recommended him for a tour in this sector. After that he seems to have struggled against the status quo, then just vanished. He only reappeared when Zen Headbutt found him.
Burke wrote:Didn't notice any difference in Ray's behaviour. He was pretty crazy anyway though.

I honestly have no idea what we should do next, I was hoping this phone call would give us some information we could use to get back on track.

Deej, can you do a search to see if there is any connection between Jerome Pollard (first victim) and Ryan Turk?
I'm thinking of heading over to Pollard's to see if there was any reason he was the first victim. I'll then see if we can track down any of his and Turk's families.

Since forum games are a bit harder, you can always ring Haynes/your contact for a cheapy GM tip. I'll always try to put you on the right track without being too obvious. I can usually tell when you're starting to flail anyway.

Are we flailing now or getting back on track?

You're digressing. You know where the killer is, but you're still looking for clues.
