You can also click something like "surprise me", and get to go with a cross dressing dwarf, some rabbit type things and what looks to have been some sort of ritual. Most fun.
I tried that, and got some weapons with funny names covered in blood. noice.

Equippable weapons? I didn't get anything like that :(

They were not equippable, simply lying around the bed and stuff, mousing over them revealed their sinister nature and what they were used for the night before. You may only get them when you play as a female character though.

oh, and they were vaguely shaped like sex toys, I should have pointed that out.

The males get "The Magic Wand". And I do believe the blight moves after most major events. Though I've never came across where I couldn't do something because it was there except Loathering,
Spoiler:
which is supposed to go bye bye.

The Blight definately moves, but the only difference I've noticed is that you get ambushed by Darkspawn rather than bandits.

Until you get an ally you get the random animal/bandit encounters, once you get allies you will get the Darkspawn fighting whoever you got, Dwarves, Mages, Knights, ect.

For some reason I haven't been able to get back into the game after my 3 week trip. Maybe it has something to with already bangin' Morrigan...I've seem to lost interest...

The blight on the map is animated slowly, but the extent seems to jumps up in a few stages rather than constantly creeping up.

Here are some hard-won tips through my hours of play, which might save some time for a few of you:

The Map. Press M to show it. Sometimes, usually when you're out in the open, with no enemies around or fixed plot points, you can fast travel from whenever you are. Most useful in Redcliffe to save you having to walk all the way up to the top to the transition.

Special custom tactics. Some characters, particularly the auto-join temporary ones at the start but also regular characters when they first join, have special tactics set which don't appear under any of the standard types and you lose them if you select anything else. To save them, click the + button next to one of the commands twice to deactivate/activate it - this enables the Save Preset button, where you can save it as Custom 1, etc. Also avoid looking at tactics in-camp - it clears them.

If you're trying to get all the endings, be aware that if you accept Morrigan's offer, that ending is now chosen - even if you don't take her with you to the final fight. For the other endings, don't worry about engineering it so the right character 'gets the last blow in' - it gives you a dialogue so you can choose.

Next up I'm going to make a max face Dwarf and do my very best to piss off every single person I meet, including my party members.
Just started this game t'other night, and have just made it to the first Warden place, and about to set off into the wilds. Playing as a city elf rogue, acting broadly as I would, but will play through again as an angry max-face dwarf, and then a naked female mage. I'd decided these things before even reading this thread again.

I forgot about that. Makes me want to finish off the game so I can start it again as Max Face.

Played through first as a general do-gooder lady Elf Mage. As is the norm with these games, first play through I acted as I would normally.

Going through it again as an angry dwarf - god I love playing through a second time acting like a complete shit! I may have nobbled my campaign slightly though, as I ended up killing Wynne after my first encounter with her.

I'm rather glad that everyone says they do it first time "as myself' and then "as a complete shit". It would be disconcerting if someone said they were running through the second time as a good guy.

I did my first go as a good guy and my second go is also a good guy. :( He is an elf so he gets indignant with humans a lot though.

If I do it a third time I'll be a bad guy.

I do this in every game that involves any kind of moral choice. I have occasionally then done a third option I call Paladin Mode, where I act MAXIMUM RIGHTEOUS. Often comes off as sanctimonious prick though.

It's hard to know what to do on the third, there's not much can top my rude, baldy dwarf who did the entire game naked. Pics in my Xfire and DragonAge profiles, which have possible spoilers, obviously.

Yourmum is just being contrary and mercurial - doing all the quests the "wrong" way (whereas Hesababy was a bastard but went with the money), and changing her mind about whose side she's on all the time.

I made characters for all the origin stories and will try to invent stories for them on the way to getting the achievements for learning all skills of a certain type as I usually pick a mix when playing "normally", but first I want to do the endgame with all the alternative troop types and helpers I didn't get the first times as people in my party prevented it.

I went the route of Deej. 1st guy was a good guy, second was a nice elvan lass unless you were a human. Thrid time through was an evil wizard who did everything he could to piss people off. Fourth-seventh time, I just dod whatever.... they were my 4th-7th times heh not much I can do differently. Just pick the options that give me the best stuff.

As for killing Wynne, I've killed her and Zev a few times, even left Sten to rot once. Nothing changes in the main story.

I left Sten in my run. There didn't seem to be a way of getting him out without threatening that woman.

Out of interest, what does "Max Face" mean?

When you turn all the sliders up to max so you end up with some grotesque mutant.

To not have to threaten the woman
Spoiler:
Talk to her with Liliana in the party.
