This thing with the roof concerns me though. To be honest though, I just want to get the fuck out of here. If you guys reckon ghost man can help, be my guest, but I reckon we just get a move on with delivering the 'package'.

Want a lift up to the roof? If not, I say you guys should get started going down and I'll try to communicate with this thing.

As for the ghost, I read some books but Leland is the only one who can really do jack with it, it's your call on that front Leland. If some nasty shit has happened then a bit of paranormal help may just save us, even though I'm loathe to trust anything other than the guys around me and my equipment.

Still, our end goal is the same, this place needs clearing and blowing up and whatever we face, good or bad, that's what I intend to achieve.

Right, Chopper go on ahead to the stairwell, I'll try to communicate with this spirit, but I won't spend a long time at it. I'll catch up in a minute.
Joose, do I need to make any rolls or anything to attempt communication?

Well, technically, you could communicate with it by just standing about and shouting. However, if you really want to make sure it hears you, I guess its either a summoning ("come here!") or binding ("pay attention to me!") test. As you have neither of these skills, it'll default to a Magic test, opposing the spirits willpower.

Roll them bones! (sounds better than Click that dice rolling button!)

Um, OK then. I would like to go the more summoning approach.

Magic (6 dice): 1 hit
You there! Please, talk to me, tell me who you are, what happened here. I want to help you.

Yeah, you get nothing. The only difference is that your detect enemies spell goes quiet. Its either left, or it doesn't want to hurt you any more, or its countering the spell in some way.

I'll head on over to the stairway now as well then.
Well, it looks like that spirit didn't want to talk, he's gone off somewhere and I lost track of it. You guys ready?
I have low light contacts and a flashlight. I think Al is the only one without some sort of darkness aid.

onwards and downwards then.
You can see pretty clearly down the stairwell, its pretty gloomy down there but you can make out the floor and doors fine. There's some rubbish littering the floor, but its mostly clear. The door at the bottom is wide open, the first basement level door has some heavy cloth of some sort hung up over it.

:above: That. Unless the sack cloth stuff is heat shielding I'm guessing me and chopper should be able to see through it.
Frank wrote:Okay, now it gets interesting, the ground isn't too broken up, so we can maintain a decent speed. You want point chopper or do you want me and my shotty to lead on? Leland, you gonna sweep in astro mode or we going as is? Either way, it's quiet as church mice again, we are in the home territory of whatever lives here, lets reduce the advantage as much as we can.
Think I'll turn my eye and ear recording stuff on again, turn my ears up high to pick up the slightest bit of breathing/shuffling etc, but not for too long as it gets a bit disorienting. Thought impulse the gun to safety off and I'm set.

I've got combat sense and good dodging skills, so if anything comes at us I should be alert to it. Although I've got a bow and arrow, I'm sticking to the trusty axe for the close spaces. If we get into any open areas that's when I'll switch to ranged.

Oh yes, and I'll do another Infiltration + Agility roll given that I've now taken point:

5,2,5,4,5,2,2,4, = 3 hits

Frank wrote:Good stuff, Leland, fall in behind chopper, Al, you next, I'll sweep from the back.

Don't worry, my gun has all your pans programmed in, it won't shoot you even if I mess up, it thinks faster than I do.

We go at Choppers pace, keep the spacing, let chopper gain a few metres but not out of sight, don't bunch on corners, watch different angles instead of staring straight ahead and we should be fine.

Damn I need a smoke.
