Shitting crikey, I thought I'd misread that so I came back and checked. Insane card and insane price. Did you decide to buy a pre-built overclocked one?

eer, no, I'm building it myself......

...yes, I succumbed and was lazy. Your fault for being offline!

Anyway, I am about to commence installation of new rig, so will possibly see you all on the other side. Just had an idea though, what about a sticky of useful sites/"things" for when people are starting afresh with a new hard drive? You know - TeamSpeak, Xfire, etc etc - the sort of things you use but forget to install them.

Once you're sorted, you can get on with that :P

I can't remember them, that's why I want a topic for it.

Christ, I now have to reinstall everything.

Can't remember actually starting afresh with a new hdd except an os that failed on me years ago a few days after install, but my other drive was fine so it was just a re-install of xp.

I have a folder on a pen drive that carries the exes of ff, xfire, ts, drivers and gets an irregular update of a few personal files.

I do wish more things followed the wow method of utilising registry but not being tied to it, it would be so much easier to work with. As it is a registry merge is generally an easier option but can create horrible problems.

In your case, I think you've just learned a valuable lesson, gather as much useful stuff/crap that you might need together to ease the pain of a new install.

Still got old machine so I'll just plug it back in and stick everything on a flash drive.

Have you not stuck your old hdd(s) in your new pc?

Get all the crap you want off then wipe it and use it as excess porn storage, stuff you can easily replace if it shits itself.

Just off the top of my head, when I installed Win 7 on a fresh drive I needed to install:

NOD32 (first, can't go downloading stuff with out protection now)
Firefox (and import my bookmarks etc)
Teamspack (and set it up as per sticky)
Xfire
Steam (copy files over to new drive and reinstall to avoid having to download everything again)
COD4 (Punkbuster shits itself if you don't, and don't forget to keep your profile somewhere)
Office
Potatoshop

Everything else I can think of I just copied the files over and fiddled the shortcut to run (usually just needs to be run in admin more)

EDIT: If your old drive's a SATA some motherboards have a port for them on the backplate. Dunno how you power it though.

Ta FJ - that's the sort of thing I was looking for but was unable to describe. I always foget about things like Winrar until I actually get round to needing them.
