Scarily, I'm getting hairier in my old age, so that's probably not far off.

If my initial hint doesn't work, try combining it with my username, that should solve it.

DING! DING! WE HAVE A WIENER!
Also, my hint was "Thor", and combined with my username it's Thor Johnson*, which was the character in the picture and also a real actor, just in case you didn't figure it out.
*which I apparently misspelled, it's written as "Tor"

I loved Silent Hill, but I love weird, creepy films.

Silent Hill had the problem of the main character being a scripted idiot. After the first time she got attacked (much like in JJ Abrams Godzilla-ish film that the name has escaped me), she doesn't arm herself with anything, not even something like a metal pole.
Being an unrealistic horror is one thing as that's what stories generally are, but making the characters unrealistic to bend to the plot is another. Humans under duress like that *will* either run like motherfuckers, cower and hide, or fight back. They'll not bolster up their confidance and go off into the night on the prowl with no weaponry unless they're Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee martial arty types.
They might be shit with the weaponry and it may be their downfall, but they'll arm themselves if on the prowl.
Now, I'm being a bit crafty with this next one as all the main characters are so utterly distinct that you won't need to guess:
Edit: It's slightly out of proportion. Bollocks. Ah well.

Heh, I don't even know what the story was about or care about the characters, I just loved the imagery.
