Is the mana barrier physical, astral, or both? If it's just astral I should be able to levitate it out. if it's physical or both I don't think we're going to be able to do shit while the barrier is up.

Just astral, so it only blocks spirits/spells/astral stuff. However, dont forget that levitating stuff is a spell, so if you try and levitate it out without touching it, at some point it will be on one side of the barrier, you will be on the other, and the spell will almost certainly fail.

More to the point: Has Leland gone in too? I thought it was just chopper? Clarity, people!

I didn't step in yet, but I'm assuming that since Chopper waled in I can at least see inside.
Well, here's the problem: that mana barrier is not going to let me levitate there. I'm not even sure how well it will work through the barrier. If we could break down the barrier somehow it'd be a breeze, but I'm not sure how considering how powerful it is. I'll try to move it off, but I think you're going to have to grab it and carry it out eventually. You ready? Stay back until it's off.
Leland is just going to try to move it slightly off the plinth to trigger any traps.

Levitate horse 3 (on the Sustaining Focus):
Magic + Spellcasting: 4 hits

Logic + Willpower: 3 hits, no drain[/quote]

OK, heres the problem: Mana Barriers are like walls in astral space. Spells travel through astral space from the caster to the target. So unless you go into the room, you cant cast a spell on it.

If its just a case of you wanting to lift it off the pedastal, you can go into the room with Chopper and try it. But if you are staying outside and just looking through the door, you would have to cast through the barrier, which you (by which I mean your character) are pretty sure aint gonna work.

There is room in there for you and Chopper to get in and be a couple of meters away from the plinth though, if you are worried its going to EXPLOADZ or something.

well, then I'll walk in enough to get inside the barrier before casting the spell. should I <strike>rick</strike>re-roll?

You step through the door, and feel the slight pressure in astral space of the mana barrier. The fact you can feel it even when you are not actively astral shows you how very meaty it is.
As you pass through the barrier, there is a slight shiver down your spine. Other than that, nothing terrible happens. You do have a horrible feeling that someone is watching you intently, though.

I'll let you use the roll you made to levitate the box: You cast the spell successfully on it and....nothing happens. You *know* the spell should have worked, it went off fine, but the box remains resolutely still on the pedastal, not so much as a wobble.

Something isn't right here guys. Something is definitely wrong.
I'll cast Detect Enemies horse 4.

Magic + Spellcasting: 6 hits
Drain (3): 4 hits

OOC: I've had the feeling for a while that removing this box is a bad idea and that Joose is setting us up for some nasty beastie to be released, and this isn't making me feel any better. Still, that's me and not Al because Al doesn't really know what's going on in there, and now I want to know what's going to happen.

how could sausage be an enemy? that's preposterous!
Well, I'm not sure what's keeping me from moving it with my spell, but we're running out of time and we need to get out of here. Chopper, I suggest you grab it and we get the fuck out of here.

You pick up the box. Its mildly heavy.

Meanwhile, outside, Pants can just about make out (over the ruckus the gangers are making) the sound of an approaching T-Bird. These are kinda like flying tanks, commonly used by major corps and assorted security providers as riot control/troop transport. They work of a system thats similar to the vertical take off system in a Harrier, but more efficient. What this means to you is they are probably scooting over the top of the low buildings around here, and are therefore going reasonably fast in a straight line.

They are pretty noisy, so you have probably heard them whilst they are a fair way off. That being said, you've got 5mins, max, till they arrive.

Chopper takes the box and heads towards the rope going back up on to the roof.

I assume we're taking it straight to the contact bloke?

I'll run out as well and do the floaty.

Magic + Spellcasting: 5 hits
Drain (3) Logic + Willpower: 3 hits

You make it on to the roof (im going to assume your characters had the presence of mind to have Leyland carry the box as he floats up so Chooper can use both hands for climbing. Means you wont need to make any more rolls for climbing a rope whilst holding a box) without issue. From your new vantage point, you can see the lights of the approaching T-Bird coming closer. You dont have a lot of time here.

The gang out front have also apparently noticed the imminent back up, as they are throwing a handfull of farewell rocks (and one rather half-assed fireball) whilst climbing back on their bikes. A couple are already speeding off down the street.

Dog Pants, you have a Mitsubishi Nightsky. Its a Limo. I think you can fit three people and a box in :)
