I just watched Jarhead as I got bored.

It's basically a poor stripped down version of Full Metal Jacket with a scene change from vietnam to the desert.

You won't miss much if you miss it. Passed the time well enough though.

6/10

I found Jarhead to be quite slow. The bit with the porno was funny though.

Push (2009)
Decent movie. Nice that it was set in Hong Kong than the US for a change. It just seemed a bit rough...like they needed a bit more time to polish it up.

The storyline was good but could have used a bit more detail/dialogue.

It ended unfinished as if there will be a Push 2.

Still...definitely worth a :sweep:

Crank:High Voltage

Finally got around to watching this, it's one of those movies that's so bad it's good.

If you liked the original, you'll like this.

"Chelios faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working"

 Brilliant, can't wait to see it

Yeah, the first one with him surviving the adrenaline thing and falling out a helicopter was great for it's sheer lunacy. :likesitall:

The International (2009)
Banks are Evil. I guess that sums up this movie. I had a hard time following it with their accents. But, in the end, there wasn't much to follow anyways.

It tried to be good. It was done well, acted well. But the story was a bit weak. At the end you go, "WTF?"

I can't remember. It's already forgotten.

Friday The 13th (2009)

There's about 5mins of "stupendous" boobies...but that's it.

Watched crank 2. Fucking hatstand. :likesitall:

Getting new Friday the 13th now.

The remake of Halloween is not too bad. Huge dude nailing a guy to the wall with a fuck off shiv is a stand out moment.

Tangent - Just re-noticed a remake of 'the taking of Pelham 1 2 3'. Hopefully it'll be not shit, got some big names in it so I'm a tad excited. Out next month.

It comes out tomorrow here. The commercials already say its great of course...but its only at 47% on the TOMATOMETER ...

I didn't know it was a remake...I think I'll see the original first so this one doesn't wreck it for me.

I don't know what that is, but it has me thinking of Chelmsford 123.

The original film was pretty good, remakes perplex me when the originals are of high quality.

:above: just watched it, pretty good.

Can't see them making a new version any better really, I suspect the idea is more limiting than 70's film technology.

The Hangover (2009)

The day after a stag night in Las Vegas goes wrong and the Groom goes missing.

It's a comedy and it's rather amusing at times, little bit crude, nothing side splitting apart from a few bits, but constant amusement. The events that occur as they're remembering events from the night getting more implausable and more amusing as the movie goes on.

It's one of those films that seems like it'll be bad, or at least bad enough to become good, but is actually just a good film.

Heather Graham (and her breasts) is a very welcome addition :) and so's Mike Tyson, who sounds remarkably like Chris Eubank.

Don't get me wrong, it's not Oscar or Golden Globe worthy, but it's definitely worth a rental, maybe even the cinema if you've got a cheapy one near you (or it's a 2 for 1 Orange wednesday). Infact, I'll probably buy the dvd at some point in the future.

I'm giving it a 7.

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Sam Raimi goes back to his Evil Dead roots of tongue in cheek, comedy horror. Genuinely scary and funny in almost equal measure. The scares are of the LOUD NOISES variety, rather than psychological. So see it at the cinema or turn the sound up at home. It's good, unwholesome fun.
