I'll buy whatever's the best value for the money at the time :D

There really is no need for the "loyalty to brands" thing that goes on with PC components, as basically the companies themselves couldn't give a flying fuck about your loyalty and just want your money.

i supose you are right, but after a few years of using intel then switching onto amd i can tell you intel is alot more prone to system crashes and just less stable all together. also the main thing that won me over is the fact it will continue to work perfectly up to about 80degrees or somthing, so its reasuring to know if things do go wrong it will probably be ok.

as for ATI i just dont like green ;) also it seems to be more compatable with just about any game, but whatever i dont know too much on that

It's common knowledge that the Athlon 64 is much better for gaming than any kind of Pentium.

As far as ATi/nVidia, I'm with WEY. Buy what gives you the best performance in the games you play.

right now I am pissed off at ATi for not offering the x700 in AGP form. I can buy a X700 Pro for $105 but it's PCI-E x16 while the GeForce 6600 is $130 for AGP. I can't possibly afford a full motherboard/CPU/RAM upgrade so migrating to PCI-E is not viable for me. I WANT A X700 AGP!

I've not liked ATi ever since they had the gall to dub the Rage IIc a "3D card", but if anyone were to give me a free Radeon superior to my current GeForce, I would use it. This is the normal way my PC gets upgraded, either from spare parts or persuading the boss to buy me bits for the 'working from home' machine.

I tried (I think) a Radeon 9600 or 9700 but it was horrible - but I was low on RAM at the time.

I was in Maplin today, which many might argue that you would not, but was rather surprised to find you could not buy a BF2-capable card. Not even close, in fact.

Maybe (whoever makes it) will do something before release to lower the requirements (what is it that makes it so demanding, the screenies don't look that amazing) or simply rely on people buying it later when their machines have caught up - but for now they seem to have excluded a lot of people who would have bought their game.

Didn't have this problem with every other game, ever - they all play just fine. Actually I never really liked the first one much. Also Steven says that the developers smell of wee.
