I suspect the problem was less about baseraping and more about the teams being unbalanced. I swapped after that round and saw it from the other side, although not on Sharqi. It often seems to be the case when it's a load of 5punkers vs a few randoms and 5punkers that the semi-5punk side gets smaller as the randoms leave through either being owned or through the abuse they get (usually deserved, admittedly) it gets more difficult to win and so more leave, until everyone leaves because they're all on the same side.

This. 5punkers either need to all be on the same side of a busy server, or evenly split between both sides of a quieter one for it to work properly. Also, how about mixing up the teams after each map? I know it isn't always a popular choice, but it might keep things slightly more interesting.

There really should be a way to have the server do that automagically.

The server should autobalance. and it's possible to auto shuffle teams. (I think)

Yeah, I'm sure in the dredges of my brain there was something about an auto-shuffle. The auto-balance thing is purely for team numbers I think, whereas an auto-shuffle between maps (although probably not rounds) would prevent one team dominating for too long, especially in the quick-fire infantry only maps. What do you guys reckon to having the auto-shuffle on?

yes it is, I was on a server a couple of nights back that did that

I'd go for auto-shuffle 100%. Also, do we have auto-balance off, or does it just not work very well?

Good idea, although not sure how it works out who should be moved. Moving the worst player isn't going to do much - and moving the best player might cause a few sulks from some.

Thats just the point tho - having teams fully randomised each time the map changes should sort that out, and worst that happens is that there are 2 rounds of unbalanced teams, and it removes the decision from someone with bias on either the pwning or pwned team.

Honestly, I think having team shuffling on would be beneficial when it's just us and a handful of randoms playing. However when it gets mostly full, having it on could be very bad. It'll tear apart any groups of people that want to be on the same team, and they might not stick around for too long. We should investigate if this is something we can change on the fly.

Good point, although at the moment we're not getting anywhere near full from what I've seen.

I vote for auto-randomise-go-time.

Team shuffling will probably annoy random clanners and horse them to leave, which is good because they're clanners, but bad for numbers. When there's not many people in the server shuffling will be fine, when we get a fuller server it'll probably not make much of a difference. I doubt we'll ever get a terribly full server with our map choices/sizes and infantry only though. We seem to go through the more popular maps quite fast as well.

Looks like Autobalance is enabled.
Auto-Shuffle is a BF2CC daemon thing... Meaning we can't have it.

Hmmmm. Is there anything else we can do to sort things out, or would it just be a case of more active admining on the server, which in itself may put some people off. Is BF2CC Daemon the thing we had on the first server where we could admin from in-game? How come we can't have it again?

They don't run it on the server, so BF2CC can only connect in rcon mode with limited functionality and the web dashboard they have doesn't look much more versatile.

Plus side: BF2CC daemon is what caused the crashes on the last one.
