I don't really know how I missed it either. Most likely because it's an RTS and my gnat-like attention span immediately precludes me from playing it.

Can't say I was impressed with what I saw at the Brum Bash narf.

It's not likely to be impressive today, but back in the day it was pretty damn great. Even so, I think it took people a while to warm to it, not receiving brilliant reviews. From a modern perspective it's let down badly by its graphics, but the story, cinematics and more than anything the perfect balance of the three sides are what make it great. This is coming from someone who generally doesn't like RTSs.

Released the same year as Half Life 1.
Both graphics dated. Storyline and gameplay excellent.

After watching the gameplay trailer for the new one it does just seem to be Starcraft but shinier, I guess that might be what hardcore fans want but it doesn't make it very interesting

From what I've seen of Starcraft 2, it doesn't really grape my squildo.

Looks no different from any other RTS game play wise, and the graphics make it look like it was made 6 years ago.

There was a multi-page article on SC2 in this month's PCG. The chief dev is shitting himself because of the huge fanboy expectations. Quite rightly - even the tiniest balance issues will be turned into resons why nobody should buy the game, and why everyone who is involved in the game should be murdered in ther sleep. Aside from that, he said the multiplayer game will be very similar to the original, while the single player will include a host of SP only units unlockable through missions. It's also limited to the Terran campaign, the Zerg and Protoss coming later in expansions.

Anyone else getting 403 on www.battle.net ?

EDIT: Solution - use eu.battle.net. It's Saudi Arabian three titted black jewish 52-years-old woman who is the grand-grandmother of six children time.

The fanboys will whine, but still buy it. There were major balance changes still being made several years after the release of the original, and I believe this will be much the same.
