Bacon makes me look sexy.
I'm in the "Any bacon is good bacon" category.

The question was never DADDY or CHIPS, it was BACON or
ROBO.

This is the true unanswerable question, for without RO-BO there is no bacon, but choose bacon and
RO-BO will kill you preventing you from enjoying any further baconage
My vote is for:
Smoke me a pig i'll be
back for breakfast

I've opted for smoked back, but my preferences are:
Smoked
Crispy
Back
in that order. Had a BLT from the canteen at lunch yesterday, with loads of cold but crispy streaky bacon. The fatty bits were basically thin pork scratchings, good but oh so unhealthy, but it was salty beyond belief. Slightly ruined it for me.
Also, My ideal bacon buttie:
Toast
HP Classic Woodsmoked BBQ Sauce
Smoked crispy bacon (probably back)
Thin layer of mayo
Toast
sometimes with added fried mushrooms, but only when I can be bothered.

Best bacon buttie:
Thick white bread cut from a a loaf (not sliced, you see)
Butter
Smoked back bacon, slightly crispy
Optional extras (individually, not together):
Plastic cheese
Runny egg that pops when you bite it and dribbles down your chin like an egg banjo
Mushrooms
Black Pudding (can go with mushrooms and/or egg, but not cheese)
or:
Soft baguette with loads of bacon and a full (sliced) block of brie.

dammit, I was going to try and resist the bacon baguette this morning but this thread has rended my resistance circuits useless...

Cheap white bread, sliced, toasted on one side (putting both slices of bread in one toaster slot works nicely).
Heinz ketchup spread on the untoasted side of both slices of bread.
8-12 rashers of sweetcure rindless streaky bacon, cooked until any more cooking would be burning.
Eaten.
I'm kinda a bacon sandwich purist - any filling other than bacon, and it's no longer a bacon sandwich in my book (although I will sometimes add a layer of thinly-sliced roma tomatoes to a sandwich, but then it's a bacon and tomato sandwich).
Not saying fried eggs, fried mushrooms, et cetera are bad, but they aren't bacon.

Bacon Brie and Cranberry is the best comination of fillings for a sandwich/panini ever in the world. The vast majority of my bacon butties are pure bacon with BBQ sauce on top, and with mushrooms I agree that it becomes a bacon and mushroom sarnie.

Adding stinky cheese and
fruit to an otherwise perfect, undespoiled sandwich?

Well, its cranberry sauce rather than the actual berries themselves. However, it is fantastico! I have a mate who has similar reactions to the mixing of fruit and chocolate. He pretty much gets the rage about it.

I went home last night and immediately cooked a bacon and fried egg (with the egg fried in the bacon fat) sandwich.
Damn thread....

I dunno, fried mushrooms have their place - in a monster barbeque bacon cheeseburger, for example, as part of a full English breakfast, or in a steak, cheese, and bacon sub with slaw, onions, and lots of mayo and ketchup.
However, the place for mushrooms is most emphatically not in a bacon sandwich.
