Re: DnD from Pete
There is also the Blackguard class, which is basically an evil paladin. Not sure what the mechanical difference is between that and an Anti-Paladin, but they are definitely different.
If you don't like the standard flavoured D&D monk there are a bunch of monk variations ... somewhere. I saw them in a book yesterday, but I looked through so many god damn books I cant remember which one it was. If I find it again I will let you know.
I was also considering either an evil cleric or an evil monk, and im torn between the two. If you decide on one, let me know and I will go for the other.

I think the monk-that's-not-a-monk was from this page: http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/ ... d-3-5-monk
So depending on level requirements, probably one of thosePsychic Warriors (Expanded Psionics Handbook) and Ardents (Complete Psionics) / Clerics can take Improved Unarmed Strike / The Swordsage (Tome of Battle) is everything the Monk should have been to begin with

Re: DnD from Pete
After taking a quick glance at the book of nine swords a swordsage is something I'd like to play but I'm happy just filling out roles wherever needed.
Re: DnD from Pete
Back when I played 2nd ed psionics were massively overpowered and everyone who played them were bastards.

Psionics is fairly controlled until mid levels, then it starts to get really silly.

I'll be an evil cleric, then. But what to pick for my DnD character, ahaha?

Re: DnD from Pete
FJ - there are quite a few classes that feed in to the blackguard which is a prestige class, paladin is off the cards as you need to be lawful good to fall, whereas you're starting from the evil part. You can trade paladin levels for black guard but that's best when you've got a few levels to trade in. You can go psionics if you want, I'm more than happy to GM it. If it's cleric then again the book of vile darkness offers some different choices, but a 'standard' evil cleric still has access to the BVD spell lists (as well as any other cleric spell you can find).
Mr J - you say you want a warrior, but when you say swordsage you're looking at what I would call a bruce lee movie ninja class with magic and kung-fu more than a warrior and involves a lot of detail for changing stances/manoeuvres etc where you might want to just smash stuff and eat people. If you're not sure we can work out what your idea looks like in class terms as there's all kinds of different ways you can go.
If anyone is getting more serious about their char and is producing stats please forward to me, I'm using hero lab so you can send the char file through if you're also using it to generate. I'll convert anyone who isn't in to that form so just ask me to update as part of your char records.

I'm interested but won't be able to confirm until the weekend - by which point all your slots will have probably been filled!

Also - ultimate monk build is a re-build to make something considerably more potent.

Re: DnD from Pete
Going for evil cleric for now, quite fighty to begin with less reliance on spells, with a possibility of necromancy/demonology down the line.

Re: DnD from Pete
Okay, I've got some partial data from Grimmie and a char from FJ. Can those who are thinking of or are taking part in this give me a more definitive yes/no and start feeding me ideas/info or char sheets.

Re: DnD from Pete
I think I'm going to back out, as much as I'd like to play an evil smashy man/dwarf/orc/whatever I'm not really feeling it right now and I don't want to half-ass things so just slide my spot right on over to Roman. I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Re: DnD from Pete
I bought the full ver of Hero Lab so can spit out my char in that format, but I'm not that great with it and can't find out how (if) I can add the crazy BVD spells and customise stuff.

Re: DnD from Pete
Essentially Hero Lab just comes with the bare basics of 3.5. There's a community built data set that comes with most of the other source books. I still see some things missing, like a few editions of the monster manual, or spells/feats for books they allegedly supply, but it's close enough to complete.FatherJack wrote:I bought the full ver of Hero Lab so can spit out my char in that format, but I'm not that great with it and can't find out how (if) I can add the crazy BVD spells and customise stuff.
You can get the data set here, and there are instructions on how to apply it to hero lab at the top:

I shall definitely be making a dood. Probably a monk, but possibly not a monk. I'll try and get him done today.

Re: DnD from Pete
Technically, not true. There are Paladin variations to cover gods that are either not good or not lawful. I was considering making a Paladin of Tyranny (LE) and make him a follower of Wee Jas, but I can't work out if HL supports the alternative paladins or, if it does, how to do it.HereComesPete wrote:paladin is off the cards as you need to be lawful good to fall

Re: DnD from Pete
I made a ninja in the end. I put the HL character file in the 5punkybeards folder, in a folder cunningly titled Petes Evil Game.
The character name is not final.

Re: DnD from Pete
Hmm, like that, but FJ's title of Stamp on the kittens is rather good. I like paladins to be champions of virtue and chivalry, don't agree with the other types as I think they should be called crusaders or black guards or subjugators etc.
For reference sometimes the free upbringing feat doesn't work with hero lab, I will check and let you know if you're due an extra.
FJ, you were a lvl 0 spell short apparently, can I suggest adding in the community pack and selecting preserve organ, it'll come in handy
