I think my main difficulty was was that central square and not knowing where to go next, the alleyways had eternally respawning zeds which ate all the ammo.

I always fucking get lost there, but iirc they only respawn if you go through the loading screen.

Yeah, that was tough. In the end I was chucking everything I could find at them 'cos I'd pretty much ran out of ammo and I was trying to save what I had for the black headcrab zombie things. Killing a zombie by chucking a plastic crate at it takes a while.

Am I the only one who thinks Ravenholm was a reasonably easy level?
The turret bit in the prison was a bitch tho.
Also, the piggy back zombies are so annoying, on hardest settings, even a strider cannon (from a really good weapons mod (SMOD)) couldn't kill everything it had on it's back.

The best thing to use on those guys are the fusion cores on the pulse rifles. If you do it right, you'll vaporize the zombie and all 4 poison crabs on his back at once. If I don't have any of those, I use the SMG grenades.

Throwing red barrels at them works well too, then when the little blighters get close enough zap them with the gravity gun (does this work on hard? ive never been stupid enough to try it)

Nah, on hard about half of them die, and the other half kill you, unless you can select the crowbar very fast.
I really reccomend SMOD, I bet you will have a right laugh

I hit one last night playing 'Coastline to Atmosphere' where I have been locked in room with a seeminly neverending supply of regular headcrabs, speedy headcrabs and the evil poison ones going for me
Anyone got to this point and want to tell me that I need to be in the room in the middle and do something rather than try and fight them all off?

Then once you are getting overrun you need to pull back towards the locked door where you came from. You should be able to kill what is coming at you with bullets.
It is a pain that bit.
Eventually when they all die and stop spawning the room will unlock and you can go right back to where you started anyway. :p
