Yeah I suppose it would be quite a fitting place for it really.

Would you remove it from the forum index, and have it as a button, or leave it in both?

It's a very good idea though, makes the site look a lot more interesting/active for first time visitors

i'd leave it in the forum as is. because that's where people send all their time and to remove the scheduler from the forum would make people have to make effort to get to the scheduler, which would be shit.

but a little mini-sched say above the TS window would let people see what's going on and make us look pretty active.

:above: that. I pretty much never go to the fp these days.

A mini 5cheduler in addition to the one on the forum is a great idea. It's one of 5punk's unique points and shows off the games that are central to the community.

also, there needs to be some borders on the sides of the new threads bit, right now the text goes right up to the side.

Well, back at work now, so I shall work on it a bit more and see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the suggestions so far, and hopefully I will fix that weird error by starting again from scratch on the new threads bit.

Yeah it's on the list of things to do still, I'm having problems doing it myself though, as I need to understand Stoat's codemonkey hacks :?

Basically plan on being a slimmed down version of the mini 5cheduler on the forum index.

I know I will be shot down in flames here...

but...

Do we need a 'front' page at all?

Why not use the forums (/phpbb2) as the starting page.

After all, nobody uses anything else it seems...

I only use the front page for easy to TS access narf.

As a portal to five punk as a whole though, I think it is worth while.

It's a fair point, as almost all discussions we've had about it are full of people saying "I don't use it, but....". I think the ideas are split between it being what new people to see first, and adding functionality so that we use it.

I think both are valid - being faced with a big load of message boards is pretty scary for the first-time visitor - I hadn't really posted much on boards before coming here and found it a little overwhelming at first, somehow I'd got it into my head that only weird people posted on messageboards. The other idea being useful to avoid the board having too many bits to it for people who only want the messages.

Agreed on all counts. Although I'm still under the impression that only weird people post here...
