i thought Fifth Element was fantastic at the time (before Chris Tucker got annoying)
Rocky Balboa
A must see for Rocky fans. Better than Rocky 4 and 5, IMO. Lots of references to the old movies and plenty of nostalgic moments, including the old songs/tunes. Brought a tear to my eye several times*.

Wrong Turn & Wrong Turn 2
Think The hills have eyes, add a bit of Hostel-esque nastiness.
Fairly average, mindless trash that requires little attention.

Shoot 'Em Up
Silly action comedy. Much better than the name suggests, worth a watch if you like such things.

Can't believe this isn't up anywhere yet:
James Bond -Casino Royale
It's good, it's what a proper bond flim should be, a lot more gritty and oh so very not camp. Apart from some suspect shirts.
(Will update and expand when I finish watching it again to refresh my memory)
8/10

saw it again this weekend;
Apocalypto
people can say about Mel Gibson whatever they want, he knows how to make a good movie. a steady pace (gets faster near the end), good acting, beautiful visuals, realistic decors (especially in the city bit), some great action sequences, good music and some bloody bits (including a hilarious moment in the very beginning of the film wich will make you cringe if you are a man.) who gives a fuck if it's historically accurate, it's very entertaining, good and worth my time.
8.5/10
note: this movie is in some original south american language and is therefore subtitled (wich i'm used too, but i know many of you aren't)

I have to agree, I was pleasantly surprised by this film. After Passion of the Jesus I was expecting something more arty, but this is an extremely enjoyable action film that happens to be set in the Mayan period. The setting does add a lot though, it's almost alien and very interesting. Even if it's not strictly accurate, not that I would know. The language wasn't a problem either, there's not too much talking and what talking there is, is straight forward so I could quickly ignore the fact that I was reading subtitles. You could probably watch and enjoy the film without them anyway.Mr. Johnson wrote:saw it again this weekend;

Ooh, been meaning to watch this for ages. I highly rate Paddy Considine. I have to watch it now just so I can argue with the fucktards on the IMDB messageboards.
I watched Stranger Than Fiction the other. Very good film actually. I avoided it at first because I felt that Will Ferrell was one of these "it crowd" actors - the ones who get a role just because they're flavour of the month.
It's about a man (Ferell) who one day finds that he can hear a voice narrating his life, as if he were the main character in a book. When the narrator announces that he is due to die, naturally he's not too happy and tries to track down whichever author it is who's writing about him. Funny, clever and well acted.
Yes, Dead Man's Shoes is a must see.
Invasion
It's okay, watchable but I wouldn't pay any money for the privilege. If you didn't know it's yet another version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, aliens taking over peoples bodies. In typical Hollywood style it has plot holes and an unlikely happy ending.

Probably the only believable (sort of) hacking based movie I've ever seen.
With command lines and stuff!
Would you like to play an electronic game of chance?

How about a nice game of chess?
