Does it really make that much difference?

At least, once you're past the straight port kinda situation (ie. they've not left PRESS A NOW on the menus)

I can see it affecting texture resolution a bit, but unless they're complete mongs, they'll have high res textures.

Engines will be made/tweaked per platform.

Controls etc should be dealt with properly.

Wasn't that the case with Oblivion and Fallout too?

Seemed pretty seemless, and apart from Oblivion's spacky tiny menu/map screens, they seemed okay.
Nothing that the ridiculous mod community at tessnexus can't fix.

Eh, I'm not too bothered. It was pretty obvious from the screenies they'd released already that the menus and such were designed for consoles.

I just hope Bethsoft have learnt from the complaints about Oblivion and do what DICE did with BC2 by spending a bit of time redoing the UI and menu's for PC.

I don't see it as a problem but I know how people can react to these things. Hopefully this means you won't need a high-end PC to make the game look nice. When I first played Oblivion I was limited to ugly graphics settings due to my hardware.

Ejaculated my rage on another forum while 5punk was down. Resigned to a numb acceptance that I probably won't be getting Skyrim until the modders have had a year to make it playable by a person with more than 3 fingers.

Considering this news I'm tempted to play it from the comfort of my sofa. The only thing that could still put me off is inventory management, which is much easier with a mouse. But with good design that issue could be removed.

Here's a video with some gameplay. Right from the start there's frightening footage of a babbling man-lump and a shrieking harpy*

Just as long as they don't do the same retarded interface as DS3, which just screams "WHY AREN'T YOU USING A CONTROLLER? THIS GAME WAS DESIGNED TO BE ACCESSIBLE! WE DEMAND YOU LOWER YOUR IQ TO OUR LEVEL YOU HORRIBLE PC USER"

That's what happens when you give a Gas Powered Games game to Square Enix.

A chap on Giant Bomb has done a fairly in depth wiki entry on Skyrim http://www.giantbomb.com/the-elder-scro ... /61-33394/. So far it seems PC users will get higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing (mod support too no doubt). If I come into some money between now and Skyrim's release, a PC upgrade is well overdue. For now though, it'll likely be on my 360.

This isn't really bad news at all, I play Oblivion and Fallout 3 on the PS3 when I feel like it (despite having them both on PC) and I think it's great that the experience isn't at all diminished. Apart from me not having all the DLC I have on the PC, there's scarely any difference, plus I'm nearer the fridge, have a comfier chair and can actually show/play with/talk to other people in the house.

Mass Effect's another example where the makers have thought intelligently about the control systems of both platforms and played to their strengths, whereas Dragon Age (both of them) is a an unfortunate example of console gamers getting a raw deal - made even more painful as they pay dramatically more for their software to supplement consoles low hardware retail price.

Giant Bomb is pretty awesome. They do tons of video content that has pretty good analysis of various games. I don't agree with their opinions all the time, but their podcast is pretty hilarious and the Quick Looks are generally better than previews and demos (because you don't need to install them).

I'd pre-purchase for that, was going to buy it anyway. Only problem is I don't see a Add to Basket button. :?

I think there's some kind of dispute going on at the moment between Steam and GAME meaning that us uk people lose out on a hat. This is unforgivable!

Can't afford new graphics card so was thinking about getting PS3 version. It'll look EXACTLY like the demo. If I wear vaseline smeared goggles.

I'm glad to see the magic is alot more interesting visually and mechanically and that the world seems more fantastic compared to Oblivion, the combat seems like its implemented better than in any of the previous titles in the series too.

All in all this game looks like what i wish vanilla oblivion was, not too say it wasnt a good game but it was certainly lacking in a few places
