Solid State Disks are the way forward. I've been looking at these for a few years now and it sounds like they are becoming practical for all systems. If you had one in your PC it would potential boot up and operate much faster. And new games could benefit a lot from the extra speed, traditional harddisks and CD/DVDs are very slow in comparison, no loading times.

I've been watching these since the days they first invented the metal (called ferrometals or something like that) that makes solid state a reality. If the initial reports were true, and it has the potential to be faster than RAM but of course stable, it could revolutionise PC architecture. No need for RAM, no boot up, minimal load times...you could cut so many of the bottle knecks caused by all the buses, reducing power consumption, heat and bit failure rates. Chances of it actually going that far ... god knows, I don't design PC's.

same princple on the new body armor almost. this new armor will stop knife impacts and its bendable. the more extreme the impact the harder it gets, you push slowly against it and you can go almost all the way thru
