I've been warcrafting it up, this last week i've saved enough gold to get my mechano-hog. I'm thinking about transferring a character to the default 5punk server but all my mains are lovely and i have friends on sporeggar.
I might wait and make a goblin when cataclysm comes out.

Also, since i nabbed Just Cause 2 i'm having fun driving off cliffs and running out of ammo. vroom vroom click click.

All my games are mad at me for cheating on them with real life the past week or two. I think the only game I've played more then 20 minutes of would be solitaire.

How can you play 2 hours of solitaire? It's boring in a boringly boring way.

It's something I don't have to think about while playing so I can chat with my lady friend at the same time.

I'd have to check my record at home, I know it's under a minute also.

this week I've been playing with booze, drugs and women.

I think I might fire up the 360 to play some Bad Company 2.

Yet another XCOM clone due out this year. They're breeding like flies. What is it with indy devs churning out defending-the-earth-against-alien-invasion turn based strategy games?

You say that like its a bad thing. Also, from the few screenies that they have on thier site, it seems like this version will actually be quite good. Ive yet to play a clone that is as good as the original, so far. Personally, I find the shitty but proper 3d a lot of them use more offputting than the original low res sort-of 3d.

In fact, if they could just remake the original game with higher resolution stuff, kinda like Lucasarts have done with Monkey Island, that would be pretty awesome.

Which ones have you actually played? I cba going through them all to find which is the least shit. It seems it's down to just two now anyway: UFI: AI and this Xenocide, with the former being at a later stage of development.

Insert Thread Resurrect Grimmieart™

Having almost entirely stopped playing Eve in any meaningful way, I've freed up a considerable amount of time to socialise, have a life, go out drinking, find a girlfriend...yeah who the fuck am I kidding. I've been playing lots of other games instead!

ArmA2 with the the lolclan continues to be a staple. As a milsim it's second to none and an unending flow of new content and enhancments, both official and 3rd party, keep it fresh.

Meanwhile, I bought the Paradox strategy pack in the Steam Christmas sales, and we've been playing some multiplayer Victoria 2. This is not advised if you suffer from health issues or require sleep in order to function at work the next day. So far we're only about 1/3 of the way through and game sessions tend to finish around dawn.

In order to fill the 20 minute brain chewing gum niche that has been lacking since I realised how soul destroying WoW was, I've been trying out a few F2P MMOs. PotBS has been a vague distraction but I can't see it being a long term prospect.

And looking to the near future, the main things I have my eye on are:

Deus Ex the sequel
Oblivion the sequel
Witcher the sequel

Which does make you wonder, are there any original concepts out there this year?

I'm slightly saddened to say I've not been playing very much at all this week. A bit of Minecraft, a bit of BACON: Vietnam. I'm really liking the latter (I really like Minecraft too, but we've gushed about that enough elsewhere). I've been wanting to play more Amnesia, but it requires darkness, quiet and headphones, and none of those are easy to get away with in my house.

I've been playing Arkham Asylum and a smattering of Bacon Nam, both of which are superb (though the latter would be improved if it recorded the stats every once in a while).

Speaking of stats, a colleague and I were playing BEEF top-trumps today.

"K:D ratio - 0.96"
"Ooh, only 0.68 for me"

"Career deaths - 11,254"
"Ah, you win. 6,372"

Guess which one I was.

This week i have been mostly playing Tropico 3 and Morrowind

Tropico 3 is awesome simply because i am el presidente and the people love me

I only ever tried Morrowind recently after playing oblivion and the combat system gave me utter rage as the weapons didnt seem to have that thing we call length and hits weren't based on whether your weapon connects with the enemy so much as number magicks, and so i never got further than saying hi to the smack addict before rage quiting.

But this time ive sunk a good 10+ hours in and managed to get to grips with the combat and ive been enjoying it much more than Oblivion, the world has oodles more character and humor to it, my faviroute thing about Morrowind is the wildlife, half the time ive spent in game was coming round a turning and suddenly screaming "WHAT THE FUCKING SHITNUTS IS THAT!?" (IRL) before slowly approaching the monstrosity to see if its going to have my face for lunch or if its what the locals keep as pets.

Oblivion seems to feel more like a medieval life sim in comparison
