Dont worry though, I've almost finished my character creation thingy now, which should make it a lot easier. It automates all that shit for you (I hope)
How far are you away from it now?

There's time enough for it, it's not starting before the end of the next BPN.

Y'know, as I'm playing Mass Effect 2 I can't help but think of Eclipse Phase. Not a great deal of similarities, but the rundown space stations and high tech gunfights look like what EP does in my head.

Come to think of it, Mass Effect could make a great tabletop.

Woop Woop!

Character creating tool thing is done!

Well, mostly done. Done to a point of being useable and not offending the eyes so much you will instantly die. Which is good enough for you to grab it, test it, and tell me all the ways in which I have fucked it up.

Yay! Looking good Joose. I've utterly forgotten how to do character creation, but it looks like you could use this to create something with a minimum of knowledge. Feel free to use my pretty but not very functional sheet for populating if you get round to that bit.

Since it looks like people are likely to start creating characters soon then, I'll have a think about writing up a framework for a starter campaign. I'd like this to be a lot more personal and player driven than SLA, so if people can give me some character leads and maybe coordinate to give their characters a bit of compatibility that'll make things a whole lot easier.

So Pantsu is running it?

Regardless, sign me up bitches!

I'm still poking the 40k stuff, but it's got another stupid character section that requires too much knowledge to be totally casual about it. I have got a java character creator however.

I've just had a quick flick through the book, rather complicated at first glance stats wise, although I've not read the combat or character creation chapters properly yet.

That was always the plan, but if someone else wants to run it I'll carry on with SLA happily. It's only going to be a temporary diversion from SLA to stop people burning out on it anyway, so if someone else wants to take it off me later I'm more than happy.

I remember taking a look at the system and thinking that the character creatino was the most complicated bit and that the game isn't so bad. I might be talking out of my hoop though.

The background gets confusing, there's a lot to take in and keep a track off, but that should make for an interesting game as the players can't use OOC knowledge as much, meaning it'll be fresh.

The character creation is wierd, but Joose's guide makes it a hell of a lot easier, and it looks like it'll be fun just on what you can do with the stats alone.

I havn't got to equipment and mods yet... so I may loose my enthusiasm for the system still, but so far its shaping up nicely.

Equipment's weird. Since it's all created in a machine like those in Star Trek then there aren't different types of anything. So you just get an assault rifle, rather than a choice of several different ones. Since your physical presence isn't as important though it probably works well - you don't care if you lose all your gear, it's easily replaced.
I'm hoping that by making individual missions and plot lines tailored for each character I'll hold enthusiasm that way, but I need to know the characters in advance before I can start writing for that.

Is there an upper limit on how many you want in this?
