That actually looks sorta tempting, but them my memory kicks in and what that's demonstrating is characters at lv70, so I think I'll pass.

Yeah, I remembered how excited I was watching the original intro, with a dwarf and a gun and his animal, then spent the next 112 hours being rather disappointed.
Highest I ever got was L30, but had more fun with multiple characters up to L10. I could never fathom how people didn't get bored getting to L60, never mind carrying on after, so at least this is something for them at last.

i got bored of CoH/CoV (even though it is more fun than w.o.w.) are there any new features that may tempt my return?

The stats say I bored of that after a "mere" 46 hours. I actually played much more Villains than Heroes, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying either, or indeed MGFL - I invested hefty slices of time in them all, and if you're inclined to do play 'em hard, they represent rather splendid gaming-time-per-pound value.
Seriously. I posted a cost-per-hour thing a while back, and the MMONGs actually work out cheaper - only BeeF and CS:S come close. At least as someone who simply buys new games when they get bored of the old ones, it's an important stat and makes even relatively cheap games like HL2 Ep1, SiN Eps1 and The Ship look quite expensive; Prey, FEAR and GRAW ludicrously so.

The players aren't utterly obsessed with getting 'the best gear'. The sheer greediness that wow seems to promote killed the whole experience for me.
CoH is still fun after thirty (of fifty) levels.

The best reason to play CoH is the same as any other game - 5punkers.
I've played a couple of nights on TS with Roman, Sherriff and Berk and much of the time has been spent howling with laughter. I've found the people on the US server to be better natured than on the EU one, and they seem to take our odd sense of humour quite well;
Night one
Within seconds of entering the game I was wedging veteran superhero Ms Liberty inbetween my ample bum cheeks. A little molestation from Roman in front of the randoms at the starting point, and I was a fully fledged member of the 5punk Supergroup. Yay!
Night two
Time for some missions. On our way to our first one we encountered this scantily clad young lady. She offended Berk's morals (yeah, I didn't know he had any either) by showing so much flesh, so we held a silent protest of holding up ratings cards until Roman couldn't handle any more and broke down in tears. We left her standing baffled. Into the mission and I find I'm missing the subtleties of 'drawing' 'mobs' as I let fly my battle cry of 'Bummers!' and hurl myself into the middle of the biggest group of gang members in sight, to the bemused sound of 'oh god, what's Dog Pants doing' over TS.
I might start a diary...

this practise is often refered to as "woogling". Coincidentally, many of Ty's characters were named some variation of "Woogle".

Actually I think that 'Woogling' deserves an entry in the 5punk Wiki.
Woogle (verb)
The act of aggroing very large groups of enemies in an MMONG with little to no regard of your own health/endurance, other people's health/endurance, the size of the mob in question (large mobs with very high level bad guys are best), meteorite strikes, the second coming of Christ or people on TS screaming "Noooooooooooooooooooo!".
