If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

I had my install freeze of a legit proper came in a big blue box DVD, copied files to use stick and it's all happy.

I managed to clear off the drive with the other OSes(eses) on ready to install win7 to before I figured the spazzyness.
Possibly given what Bubbles just said on TS - if you burn the iso to disk too fast it might well fuck it up.
Still, you've got it installed now.
I'm waiting on the majical reappearance of my 4gb stick or more likely the couple more I just ordered.
With things breaking on a few people I'm quite glad I didn't just rush in and bin every single old OS I had lying about.

Mine worked fine off the disk, didnt take too long either.
Bunged it in, eventually got it to boot from CD, formatted and partitioned drives.. Bob's your uncle's aunt.

My first install attempt from a DVD-R ruined my old XP installation and it said files were missing. I wrote another DVD-R on another computer with 2x speed instead of 4x and it worked afterwards.

Basically, if you're writing the dvd, be patient and do it at 1x or 2x if your drive/discs aren't that good is the current advice? Good good.

do it anyway, or just use a USB stick if you have one, they're far less prone to errors or rotting from UV.

How big is the unpacked setup by the way? I might have to go USB drive shopping.

Isn't that supposed to be happening in a year or two?
Also, USBs for the win, no going back to DVD-Rs now if need be.

The Internet says reduced service from March 2010 and expiry in June.

Always do it. From what I read, no matter how reliable the shit is, 4x+ is risky.
