Think yourself lucky you aren't wearing orange in Guantánamo Bay for that.Sheriff Fatman wrote:So, at customs, I tried to contact him on my mobile to get the exact details; within a few seconds I had two customs guards aiming thier pistols at my head and yelling at me to "Put the damn phone down, NOW!"
I know many persons in that consider America to be the most repressive intrusive country to be in. One person travels all over africa and south america - and still finds he's more 'free' there than America, and sometimes feels the same about the Uk too. Odd innit.Sheriff Fatman wrote:Land of Freedom.
'tis the fine line between freedom and anarchy. In Africa you have the freedom to pull a gun, shoot a bum, and walk away free. In the UK you have the freedom to be a bum and not get shot. Mostly.Fear wrote:

I was treated very well whenever I used my Army ID over there. It got myself and my four friends *huge* discounts on all the New York tourist attractions (Empire State, helo rides up the Hudson, USS Intrepid, etc).Peter Armstrong wrote:bah they can be arses when u go into there country! even tho i am in the Army!! they seem to give me a hard time! lol
That's because most Americans have some national pride and appreciate their servicemen. Over here it feels like half the population just think we join up so we can kill people.Sheriff Fatman wrote:I doubt the same would be true for US servicemen over here.

I, for one, don't believe Military people join up just so they can kill people.Dog Pants wrote:That's because most Americans have some national pride and appreciate their servicemen. Over here it feels like half the population just think we join up so we can kill people.

They never questioned the validity once, and I never had to ask for any discount, it was simply given as a courtesy.
I doubt the same would be true for US servicemen over here.
