well space incase i wanted to add another computer for something, or for if I get a girlfriend so I don't ahve to share. and one as a general use machine, my parents said if I get a machin wirth that spec they want me to pay a large chunk towards the leccy bill if I'm using it all the time.

That being said, some kind of purpose built mass dvd writing deely would probably be better/cheaper/less harsh on the leccy bill.
