ranged dps with autotank? I'm sure we can find space for you

Hunters are useful for crowd control, and obviously they're a ranged DPS. At the moment just having the bodies to fill a 5-man would be good though.

Okies then, any particular type of pet that would be most useful? Currently a BM hunter with Ferocity pets, but was going to find the most pink of the other two trees too.

From what I gather it doesn't really matter. Your pet won't be tanking, the tank will. DPS would be the next most useful I suppose. You need to be looking at your traps and such to control the mobs, but until you hit 80 you're better off sticking with a levelling spec.

I think at 80 currently Survival / Marksmanship is the best dps, with a ferocity pet for extra damage. With growl off and cower on!

This, stay in your happy place until 80, then consider fucking with stuff.

And by that you mean horribly wipe on Moroes, unless stuff changed since TBC and Moroes no longer disables a tank.

Nothing's changed, apart from you no longer need the urn to summon Nightbane, but I've been regularly clearing Kara with just my warrior tank and a holy paladin, so should be doable with a handful of level 80 5punkers.

5punk's first raid went pretty well today
Admittedly, Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj with 6 of us, but we did it, despite my best efforts to die. Lots.
CoS also went pretty well once we got our shit together.
More of this sort of thing!

Still only vague organisation, but we're gettin there (shhh). Healing for a 5punky instance is a rollercoaster ride.

I wouldn't like to heal 5punkers

Points I noticed, should anyone care;
I got distracted once or twice by Sprog, only to look up and find the whole group halfway across the map and Berk almost dead (and then dead soon after).
A few times the group just split up. With so many Death Knights it was hard to see which way Berk had gone. The raid arrow thing helped a lot.
In Stratholme I was getting hassled a lot by trash mobs. Having to pause to kill them for three or four seconds each time meant I was doing more fighting than healing. Being a babysitter probably wasn't much fun for Sheriff, but it indirectly kept Berk alive. Shouldn't be a problem in most other instances.
I need to stop and regen my mana sometimes or I run out in combat.
