Just had a looksee, seems quake 2 evolved is the prettiest mod.
wonder if there's any high poly model packs

it seems that Q2E doesn't play nice with it, so EGL is the way to go.

easy. give the xfire custom game install path say "C:\Quake 2\egl.exe"
Rather than "C:\Quake 2\quake2.exe"
gah, they fixed that trick
erm, rename egl.exe to quake2.exe?
