I'd stick moar ram in it if you're going to try win7.
Speaking of win7, anyone got a place where I can grab a copy/key. I never did get around to grabbing it what with stuff and things going on.

*bump*
My missus is going to live a college life next year, and as such is going to need a laptop, every student's primary tool. (apart from beer and baked beans, but she likes neither so...)
Since she's a massive technophobe, she's probably not going to do much more with it then working, internet, watching DVD's and skype.
I suggested a netbook, but she wants something 'with a big screen and OOOH do they make white laptops? or pink ones! I'd love a pink one!' So now I'm looking for a cheapish (say; around £500) laptop that is preferably white or pink.
Oh, and no macs.
PS: as usual, she told me a little while later that she didn't really want a pink one, honest. But as you know that's just a woman's way of saying she'd really really like it.

Oh wow, they're customizable and everything!
Just what I'm looking for, cheers Pete!
Can I she trust dell though?

Their lappys ain't bad pieces of kit, and you'll not be needing/wanting to spend too much for what she wants it for. As per usual, any ram/hdd upgradez you want, diy it because they charge fucking silly prices.

I have a Dell Vestro that i got from work, not a bad bit of kit and fairly cheap (£350 if i remember correctly) Just wipe of the shit that dell put on it (Support Stuff etc) and it runs at a fair whack.. no good for games though unfortunately as i didn't get spesh graphics, just basic Intel shite.
I ended up getting one for Kellys 21st Birthday as i was fed up with her using my PC... tis a good buy for the monies

I've had an XPS for a year or two now, and I'm pretty happy with it. My experience of Dell has beent hat they're reliable but not made to upgrade. In a desktop that's very undesirable, but in a laptop that's okay by me.
