Perhaps i wasn't so clear, the distance won't cause problems for games.
However, you have to remember that the time it takes for the voice traffic to get across the atlantic and back can add 200-300ms onto the total time it takes compared to a uk/eu based server - which can be bad (not to mention the extra routing allowing for more issues)
Yes, i know another 300ms doesn't *seem* like much, but it really adds up
if i say hello, it takes 300ms to get to you (150ms to usa, 150ms back), and another 300ms for me to get your reply.
that's 600ms, not taking processing etc into account.
Certainly that's the case with teamspeak anyway - all traffic goes through the server, there's no peer to peer connections.
/Really fucking geeky.
Anything is pretty likely to sound shit to some level, because there's probably 30 of us, all using different hardware, with gain etc - not to mention the issues of onboard sound (don't get me started)
Also, you have to remember that any changes to stuff means some fucking mug (me) has to talk everyone through getting set up.
As i said above, if you wanna go ahead and order a big enough server for a month and help us all get set up with it - we'll be more than willing to try it out and switch over providing no-one has issues etc. - At which point i'd start paying etc using the donations.
