Hmm. Apply patch for fixes, get ctd trying to leave clear sky base for the first time. I tried again, same thing except I made it through the brief load/black screen, only to find I had no weapons or armour despite talking to the trader, then it crashed again. Guess I'll go back to the previous patch.

Fix'd. few pokes with settings changes and a new game, the trader started actually giving me the weapons/armour and it stopped ctd'ing. It's stable now, woop!

Having had played the game more now it's patched (got as far as I did before, and quite a bit further)

I'd say if you liked the original stalker a lot. it's well worth jumping through a few hoops to get this running if you can.

It's a lot more... Everything, really.

Combat is better, Weapons system is better, Groups are better, Nights are darker (1am ish is NVGs and flashlight to have a hope of seeing anyhing)

I just realised I stopped playing earlier because it was too dark in game, so I decided to stop until it got light.
