Hehe, all my SCC creatures were made purely for looks too.
My Greenlegged Spikebird completely trounced my Grimbola in creature stage, I made him too tough :(

I'm really into this game, just got into space age.
I had to go out this evening for a meal, and found myself thinking through about the building I had created before saving and shutting down. It wasn't pretty, in fact it was downright offensive to my eyes. It was just like the creatures I made when I started playing the creature creator.

I let my thoughts wander while I was out and came back to delete my town hall, factory and tank completely.
I started over with a shape and a colour scheme that I could carry through the entire game - all of my buildings and vehicles now suit my creature. Round, black and horned - demonic creations to match my horned creature. I'm finding these little design challenges great. The creators are fantastic!

Someone mentioned this was a Maxis game, creator of the Sims, so there is no doubt that there will be an endless string of addons and upgrades to extend the playability of each stage.

In this case I think it's a good thing. It should prolong the replayability. As long as they're not too expensive that is.

:above:

I predict something along the lines of:

Spore: water based creatures
Spore: more bits to stick on your vehicles
Spore: lets build stuff in space now

etc.

Crikey, the space bit is big. I can see what the review means by it taking up half the game.

Made an alliance with KV's economic centric Killani, and met DogPants's Carrien Empire this morning!

Oddly enough, my Carriens met KV's Killani too. I'd watch out for my lot, I massacred my way through the game until I hit space, so they're likely to be aggressive. However, I've decided to go for the diplomatic route personally because I'm feeling at a bit of a disadvantage in space. I'm struggling to make money.

How can you tel who a creature belongs too? During the cell stage sometimes it would say Maxis by a creature portrait but then I lost the ability to get the portraits up.

If you select something by clicking on it you should get the little thing in the corner with whoever made it instead of Maxis.

I think some of the creatures require a specific part to be clicked for it to appear.
On a different note, I just realised you must be Dog Pants from PCGF on which I've been a member for quite a while even if I dont post much under my real name of Giancarlo.

Yes indeed, I'm the only Dog Pants on the internet as far as I'm aware.

im pretty sure this only pops up the first time you click on a creature after that you have the either remember its stats and creator or maybe find it in sporepedia, i could be wrong though

My poor Killani have been given up on unless there's a way of going backwards, the Killani Empire is stuck between two aggressive mofo's who instantly attack any colonies, and I haven't progressed enough to be able to fight back properly :(

Killanis are my natural enemy on my game. Out of interest, do the enemies scale up as your buddys play them in the same stage or not?

I killed them just after I got out of the water because they wouldn't be my friend. I think they do go through various stages; the Sporepedia saves different increments (possibly the stage you're at when your brain grows), so it can put the right level in your game.

As for space, I've had exactly the same experience as KV. I can't do anything to make money to progress because every time I leave my home system it gets attacked, and if I stay put my colonies get attacked. By about half a dozen ships at once, to my two. Spawn, die, spawn, die, spawn, die.
