you're forgetting 2 things:

i) Half-Life 2 is fricking awesome.
B) Continuation of the storyline.

Usually I get bored very quickly of cut-scene type elements in games, especially when you can't move about. But the last part of the game were you're hanging from one of those pods at the top of the citadel, while Breen and the others have an argument is the best bit of drama I've seen in a game and better than many films. If there's a chance of getting more of this and the rest of the awesome gameplay I'm all for it.
