If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Athlon 64 4000+
2gb PC3200 RAM
BFG OC 7900 GT 256 GFX card
Abit AN8 SLi Deluxe MOBO
a bunch of other stuff that doesn't affect performance.

Also removed my SB Live Player.

That's not a bad setup I suppose.

Hehe, wish I had the monies for a 4000+ cpu and that GFX card!

But for now I'm just glad that my 6600GT and 3000+ will run things reasonably will. Having 2 gig'o'ram helps as well.

Not sure if this one has been discussed before, but:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

get used by me an awful lot. It's very handy if (like me) you install/uninstall lots of apps.

And if anyone uses a dual-screen (or multi-screen) set-up then:

http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

is a must IMHO.

Probably due to the fact that beef is a beast on the graphics, especially with the kind of draw-distances it uses. Can't test mine to see if I meet recommended just now cos my mother's pentium 2 with its whole 64MB of ram and onboard graphics with a max resolution of 800x600 would cry just attempting to run the test!

Some of the maximum settings are pretty pointless and don't make much difference of the one below, medium or whatever it is. Check this guide out for example screenshots: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_5.html

Unless you already knew that and are just testing.

This.

According to all the tests and reviews I have seen my rig should scream through Beef on High, but it is a pig of a game.

Try to work out what setting you want to for best accuracy (AA, decent geometrics and full draw distance in my case) and then try adding the bits that will enhance your experience (textures, bullet holes, explosion effects etc).

I honestly wouldn't expect it to run everything on high with a Cray :)

A much better replacement for Task Manager.
This is excellent and very handy for identifying all the shit monitoring and control software on my company laptop, and then disabling it.
