The delay only seems to seriously effect the php parsing on the forum. The web server will offer up images and wiki pages reasonably fast while the forum is stalled.

It took 5 minutes to reply, and I can't even remember what I was going to say.

it appears to be randomish. 7-10-ish seemed particularly bad.

So who's going to volunteer to be the mysql expert? I think it's the php calls to the database which are stalling.

I was going to post something similar. I haven't a clue though.

I reckon it's because the site knows Stoat's gone on holiday.

It shouldn't be the php or the mysql code causing the problem, as it was perfectly fine, granted it may not be the most efficient code, but 5punk did work perfectly fine for a substantial period of time, I reckon it's server side causing the problems by not having enough resources or the resources being poorly managed.

Thing is, the other things hosted on 5punk (FTP, Wiki, images) all work fine. It's only the forum which is slow.

Fuck me, it's seriously taking at least minutes to open a thread for me at the moment.

What I'd do first would be check how many cpu minutes 5punk is using, that way we'll probably be able to tell if it's us, or someone else on the server fucking us over.

http://www.5punk.co.uk/stats/resources might work, but you might need to enable cpu logging somewhere in the DH panel.

I think DH allow ~40 minutes cpu use (max) a day.

If we're under that, it's probably not us breaking stuff, so it'd be worth poking DH.

Don't know if it's significant, but the disco board doesn't seem to be affected.

Dunno if this helps but it's been slow for me too, I usually start to load the page and open another tab to surf while waiting for 5punk, but today after a min or so got redirected to the cdc page then the dreamhost status page. I've also got the logout/no new posts problem but put it upto the 1 to 1.5 min load times.

I went to report this a couple of days ago, and got a message saying they were moving everyone off our cluster, as it was having problems, so I didn't submit a report.

Then I read the forums and apparently the moves are taking three times longer than they thought, so they are starting out just moving people who have filed a complaint - which I then did last night.

There's a possibility of complete outage when they do this, which may be at any time - hopefully since the size of our data isn't too extreme, it won't take as long as it has for some of their customers.

Fair enough. Seems okay now, but I doubt that it's because it's already been done.
