From memory, it'll be caused by the mesetic spores given off from the seeding swarms as they land ahead of the main hive fleet to prep the place for the main invasion.

Finally, a race that doesn't look like one of the other races in a different colour.

Yes, I did use to play 40K, many years ago, and like most generally useless information it's lore got stuck in my head, make it's self comfy and refused to leave.

Well since chaos and dark eldar are simply corrupted versions of their rivals it can only be expected...

Yeah, I wasn't commenting on their adhesion to the lore, but the decision with the add-on games to add extra human races and the dark eldar, it just felt a bit of a Sims-like con - Dark Crusade was ace, though.

After playing DOW, I went to a shop that specializes in miniatures games like Warhammer and such, and let me tell you I have never been more weirded out in my entire life. It was like something out of a horror movie.

Carnifex or close combat hive tyrant?

I just noticed hehulk's post saying mesetic, it's actually mycetic.

The horror of facing a huge behemoth (extra close combat carnifexes) on the table top with my squishy tau was always tempered by the fact that I could shoot the fuck out of them unless I failed the rolls then I got et and made into more 'nids.

Playing against them as a khornate chaos army was far simpler. It consisted of a bit of shooting and then charging madly. Rolling hundreds of close combat dice and seeing who won. My Lord and his full retinue ended up rolling about 120 dice if they charged first.

Nice. I assume the big one in the bottom pic is the same size as the one in the first pic - it'd look a bit odd if there weren't sort of person-sized units.

If that's it on ultra high graphics, I will be a very happy man, but I'm suspecting it's pre-rendered
