I had Carmaggedon II. I think it ran in VGA and software mode. Kept going back to it though, even with the pixels.

Close, but no cigar. Game I'm after was set in a dingy city and I believe it was taxi based rather than race based.
Slightly more on topic, how come my Trackmania game says invalid key when trying to play online? It was a free game ffs!

Did that to me once or twice, too. Just keep trying to connect and it'll work eventually.

Lateralus wrote:Speaking of driving games with cannons, can anyone remember a fairly old game where you were a taxi driver in a dark blade runner-esque city and could kit your car out with massive spikes and guns and rockets etc? The name is evading me and its most frustrating. Seem to remember a few fun hours spent playing it many moons ago.
That rings a bell. Spoodie might know what it is.

I thought it might be Carmageddon but the taxi makes that not right. I'm guessing it's a PC game, in which case I have no idea. That one has beaten me.

If you haven't found it yet- volume is under the settings dialog before you launch the game.
That should be where Nickface's port settings are too.

Oooo, and if we can get trackmania working in Hamachi and LAN then I'm go, but can't get round the fricking "invalid key" thing. Bloody free games.

It had some copy protection stuff as well (when the install reboots), which is a bit weird for a free game. I got a bit annoyed with it as the tracks got harder.
