yes, it's normal for ddr333 (pc2700) memory.

Probably it should be running at ddr 400 (dram ~200mhz)

you should be able to set it in the bios, ddr333 is often just what stuff defaults to as a failsafe.

Yeah, i SHOULD be able to, however, after looking around on the interweb, It appears I will have to upgrade my bios version to F12 or whatever the hell it is.

mostly it's dead easy, i've never managed a bad flash. it's not as scary as people think.

I suppose it's the fact that you're depending on a floppy disc, and if you fuck up, your whole motherboards fucked.

what exactly is your mobo? most likely there'll be a windows flashing app.

i'd consider doing it with just your 512meg stick in there, given it's a known good config
