Dog Pants wrote:Oddly enough I enjoyed the to-and-fro of BF1942, but didn't think it worked very well in BFV. I'd like to see a mode in COD/COD2 where the objective is to push back the enemy spawn points across the map until a 'last stand' at the end. Perhaps timed like UT's assault maps. The most enjoyable TD games seem to work like that.
Time has proven this to be true. When I first played DoD (the HL1 mod), as a hardcore DM/Action fan I scoffed at the foolish "realistic innacuracy" of the weapons, considering aim-down-the-sight to be "useless". I'd had years of fun in Quake CTF and TeamFortress, and thought these "multiple flags" and "ponce-about-around-the-flag-until-it's-capped" ideas to be entirely foolhardy. TDM was an anathema to me - I always seemed to shoot the wrong people.
well, okay - I still *do* that...
How wrong I was. My diet of UT2004: Assault, CS:S and BF2 are proof of that. The only reason HL2DM gets a look-in on my Xfire stats is that the khazi-tossing raises it above your standard DM, and the fact that it's all I've got at work. Regular DM modes can't hold my interest for much over an hour these days.

Why are the multiplayer review bits always so short, and almost an afterthought?
I have yet to find a decent review of multiplayer features/modes on a gaming website
They seem to overlook the fact that a large percentage of PC gamers buy P.C.'s specifically for their online aspect

I read somewhere that it was set in the second World war, and that you could shoot guns and stuff - against other people - Online!

Radical stuff, will they be able to pull it off you think?
