I spent an age trying to get out the field alive, then discovered that if you go right, you can avoid all enemies until half way down the hill by hiding behind a hedge. So I stayed there for a bit and bombed the crap out of everything, just because the explosions are pretty!

cunning, yet dull.

I ran forwards, used the last of my m249 arrow, jumped the fence and hid until i stopped bleeding, then ran again :)

This game fucking rocks. 100% fact. I'm going to go out and buy it tomorrow. It's a beautiful mix of all the games we love best.

I didn't like that Pripjat level with the two facing blocks of flats - until I learn the level and where people can possibly be due to accessible areas - it's like an infinite selection of possible sniper spots.

Generally, learning the level layout and all possible locations seems to be key in CoD MP games - too often I was spawn-sniped while trying to get my bearings - so it's not quite a "jump in as a noob and enjoy" game, plus seasoned players get advantageous kit selections from the get-go.

It requires a different mindset than my usual run-directly-at-them-and-dodge-a-bit approach, but I may find my niche with grenade-launchers, as I did with BeeF. Cleverly defending locations and remaining undetected seem succesful tactics - neither of which have ever been a forte of mine, but TeeF has taught me that there is always time to learn new tricks.

I am liking this game a lot so far. Really enjoyed the retro mission where you're dressed up in a ghillie suit.

Only thing I don't particularly like is the change weapon controls. I've customised it so that mouse wheel up is switch between guns, but it's a pain in the arse to press different numbers for flashbangs/claymores/c4 etc.

Wasn't COD2 like that?

Also, I've just realised today, what happened to COD3?

It was console-only.

like i just said, it's feels like cod:uo and beef combined. absolutely fantastic!

as for the sp; short, but excellent storytelling, a bit less cliché than i expected

Dunno maybe start an SP thread?

MP-wise I'm liking this a lot more than I did yesterday. While the gun filling up half the screen and therefore obscuring people who duck a lot being an issue, having a 5punky server pretty much alleviates any potential rage-inducing moments - as anyone who's being a cock can quickly be told so - continued enjoyment for all 5punkers is after all a loftier goal than attaining a few more points.

BeeF-like I'm liking the 'nade launcher on the AK, but it quickly becomes a nice gun to use after you've shot your two fatloads, although I've ran out of ammo a few times, and something meatier than the stock pistols will be nice to fall back on when I get them. I know you can switch the pistol with dropped weapons, but they always feel a little dirty after you lot have been fingering them.

I hope interest keeps up to maintain a decent 5punky presence on Tuesdays at the least, it's not a game I relish playing with randoms.

CoD 4 mp = Win.

It's the only game that's managed to really pull me away from TF2, and that's quite a feat.

To me it feels quite different to old cod, it's shinier and the guns sound/work better, but there's enough little things that are the same to make it feel right

Are there any control point capping modes? Or something that's just better than Team Deathmatch? I didn't really enjoy it all that much.

Now listen here you fuckers, I am now a sad assed casual Wii gamer, and you keep tempting with all these fantastic looking new games, stop it right now!

Seeing as I am currently addicted to TF2 (when I get chance to play games) I may have to buy this as well, and knock a few of the Wii games I wanted off my Xmas list :P

It's the "like the bastard son of COD:UO & COD2" comment which has got me excited, and I have to admit the demo was really good, so I think I will be popping out to buy this later on in the week.

Is COD4 the new "Tuesday COD night" game?
