I have 128mb video memory, i've set the graphics as high as it will let me. This is what it looks like for me: http://x2.putfile.com/9/27212195389.jpg not very nice at all.

Is anti-aliasing on?

My thoughts of the demo after making a quick run though it: I don't like the control scheme.

No it isnt, since on some games it causes me to get low fps in some areas so I leave it off, i barely notice anyway. But I dont see why that would mess up the textures that badly, i'll go have a try with aa on.

Edit: nope, didnt make a difference, just made it unplayable.

Edit: I discovered these commands: r_picmip_manual 1-0 (needs to be enabled for the others to work), r_picmip 0-3 (texture quality), r_picmip_bump 0-3 (bumpmapping quality) and r_picmip_spec 0-3 (specular quality). It looks like cod2 sets your texture quality for you and doesnt let you change it without those commands, i couldnt get it to run smoothly at decent settings though... maybe my new fan might help.

I played this this morning and now I wish I hadn't. If I hadn't played it the month long wait for it to come out wouldn't bother me, but now I'm chewing my keyboard in anticipation.

And the slight control differences didn't bother me at all.

I've never played COD game before, and so it's really weird to get used to everything, like the whole switching of weapons, the "toggle" to crouch, etc. It's just realy clunky to have to change over to a system that's, for the most part, completely different.

Fair point, when I played COD for the first time it took me a while to get used to. I'm pretty sure you can set up the keys so crouch/prone/aim don't toggle. The key setup seemed pretty flexible. Mind you, I did keep pressing shift to sprint resulting in me wildly swinging my rifle about.

Like DP said the key bind are really flexible in COD2 so you can use non-toggle crouch and mouse wheel to change weapon, the weapon thing bothered me and I changed it after 2 mins in game.

I can play COD blindfolded, and even I had a bit of an issue getting used to the new control scheme.

I changed it all back to how I like with the exception of not being able to scroll the mouse to select a nade :(

Now I'm too excited about the multiplayer :excited:

This maybe a bit overkill just to use mouse wheel to switch granades, but today I've been playing with AutoHotKey, a kind of macro program. Actually its got a full coding language there, but simply you can asign several key presses (or mouse scrolls etc.) to a single key on your board (or scrollwheel).

People might like to play with that to scroll up and down through the weapons. I might see what I can do to get it similar to normal COD.

Isn't the probelm that you can use the mouse wheel to select weapons, but that 'nades don't come up in the list? You have to press the special "grenade" button which just throws it automactically with a set timing on the fuse.

I only had a quick go, so may be talking out of my arse.

I'll leave that typo in, I rather like it

I like that word. I think we should try and get it officially regisitered in the English dictionary.

Probelm (noun) - A situation or question that is difficult to understand because of it's spacky nature

Probelm (adjective) - Someone who is difficult to deal with as they are a spacker <a ~ child>

Yes. I certainly hope 'nade cookage is present in COD2. It's a very satisfying skill to be able to place one to explode in a sniper's face. Also, it's ace for death 'nades and suicide 'nadings :D

I second this motion.

"Hes not just an amature cupcake, hes a bit of a probelm"

Well if we're on the subject of English language...

Amature would be incapable of maturity, as opposed to immature which is just lacking in maturity.

Or assuming the typo "amateur cupcake". Which would be me.

no typo, thats exactly what i meant. Amature cupcake as opposed to a pro-belm.

you see what i did there? no?

oh.

If you're looking for amateur porn (for someone else, obviously) then "amature" is the keyword of choice.

So I'm told.
