Err, yes it is. That's 'cause Memory Stick is a proprietary format owned by Sony. For every Memory Stick (by any brand) sold anywhere, Sony gets a chunk of the cash.

my friends tried ebay for mem cards (because we both have the same phone the sony erricson k750i and they use the same cards as the psp do).

I got a 1GB Sandisk Memory Stick Duo Pro from Amazon Marketplace for fairly reasonable money.
